Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disease frequently associated with comorbidities that include diabetic macular edema (DME). The current medical approach to treating DME involves intravitreal injections with either anti-vascular endothelial growth factors or steroids. However, the burden associated with intravitreal injections and DM-derived complications is high, underlining the need to find optimal treatment regimens. Background: To describe optimism and sense of coherence in mothers and fathers of preschool children with cerebral palsy (CP), before and after participation in an intensified habilitation program. Methods: Forty-five parents of preschool children with CP answered the Life Orientation Test (LOT) and sense of coherence questionnaire (SOC) twice during one year. Results: Parents of the youngest CP children and those with high stress levels reported reduced optimism and sense of coherence at baseline. Dynamics behind the long-lived coherences of I2 in solid Xe.

The absorption spectrum of I2 in solid Xe shows resolved zero-phonon lines and phonon side bands near the origin of the B←X transition (550-625 nm). The long-lived |B⟩⟨X| coherence in this energy range (T2 = 600 fs on average) emerges as vibrationally unrelaxed fluorescence in resonance Raman (RR) spectra. Upon excitation in the structureless continuum at 532 nm, the oscillatory RR progression exhibits electronic dephasing time of T2 = 150 fs. Two RR progressions with markedly different vibrational coherence on the X-state are observed. Our study of B←X absorption of molecular iodine (I2) isolated in a low-temperature crystalline xenon has revealed an exceptionally long-lived electronic coherence in condensed phase conditions. The visible absorption spectrum shows prominent vibronic structure in the form of zero-phonon lines (ZPLs) and phonon side bands (PSBs). The resolved spectrum implies weak interaction of the chromophore to the lattice degrees of freedom. The coherence extends past the vibrational period of the excited state molecule, unlike that observed in any condensed phase environment for I2 so far. International audience; We present adiabatic passage techniques for the realisation of one and two-qubit quantum Gates. These methods use evolution along dark-states of the system, avoiding decoherence effects such as spontaneous emission. The advantage of these methods is their robustness: they are insensitive to the fluctuations of the parameters and to partial knowledge of the system.

Methods A prospective follow-up study was conducted involving 334 12-year-old adolescents from public schools in the city of Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil. The predictors of use of dental services in the last 12 months were selected according to the Andersen’s behavioural theoretical model. The psychological relevance of large-scale musical structures has been a matter of debate in the music community. This issue was investigated with a method that allows assessing listeners' detection of musical incoherencies in normal and scrambled versions of popular and contemporary music pieces. Musical excerpts were segmented into 28 or 29 chunks. In the scrambled version, the temporal order of these chunks was altered with the constraint that the transitions between two chunks never created local acoustical and musical disruptions.
