Background: In the currently ongoing coronavirus pandemic, coinfections with unrelated life-threatening febrile conditions may pose a particular challenge to clinicians. Leishmaniasis is a zoonosis that may present general symptoms, including fever, malaise, and arthralgia, rendering it indistinguishable from COVID-19. Methods: In this paper, we aim to draw attention to this issue and analyze the clinical characteristics of the coinfection SARS-CoV-2/Leishmania through a systematic review of the literature. Estimating the substitutability between private and public consumption: the case of Spain, 1960–2003

This paper examines the relationship between private and public consumption using Spanish data over the period 1960–2003, using a two-good permanent-income model. We extend previous analysis addressing the question of whether this relationship is stable over time, or exhibits a structural break allowing the instability to occur at an unknown point in time. Our empirical results indicated the existence of a long-run relationship between private and public consumption. We report a study on toxoplasmosis in pregnant women in Luanda, Angola, determining the seroprevalence, geospatial distribution and its association with socio-economic features, dietary habits and hygiene and health conditions. Anti-Toxoplasma gondii IgG and IgM were quantified in serum samples of women attended at the Lucrecia Paim Maternity Hospital between May 2016 and August 2017. Decoupling factors on the energy–output linkage: The Spanish case

The recent increase of energy intensity in Spain and the ratification of the Kyoto protocol call for the implementation of energy policies in Spain. In this paper, we investigate the relationship between Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and Energy Consumption (EC) by taking into account several decoupling factors that can affect this linkage. Specifically, we have considered the temporal aggregation of data and its seasonal adjustments, the multivariate methodology, the substitution between EC and other inputs and the technological changes. In vertebrates, nicotinic cholinergic neurotransmission is found in both the CNS and the periphery (muscle endplate). Although muscle and neuronal nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChR) have evolved from a common ancestor, it is striking that the muscle receptor has remained rather stable in evolution, whereas the neuronal receptor has evolved to a wide diversity of subtypes. Is the Fisher effect non-linear? some evidence for Spain, 1963–2002

In this paper the role of non-linearities in the relationship between nominal interest rates and inflation is examined, in order to shed some additional light on the mostly unfavourable evidence on the presence of a full Fisher effect. The analysis is applied to the case of Spain for the period 1963–2002, which allows previous results on the subject to be re-examined and extended. The empirical methodology makes use of recent developments on threshold cointegration, so that cointegration between a pair of variables should be expected only once a certain threshold was reached.
Lifetime measurements in99Sr and100Zr

The lifetime of the first excited state in99Sr has been determined by the delayed γ-γ coincidence method. The value of t/2=0.58(9) ns corresponds to a deformation parameter s=0.38(4). The deduced value confirms the previously proposed ν[411]3/2 Nilsson assignment for the99Sr ground state. In addition, lifetime values for the 2+ (t1/2=0.40(8) ns) and 0+ (t1/2=5.36(23) ns) states in100Zr are obtained, which deviate from older measurements and indicate a larger deformation of s=0.39(4).
Gamma-X-ray coincidence Mössbauer emission spectroscopy on57Co/CoO

The time integral Mossbauer emission spectrum of a57Co/Co1−xO source (x ≈ 10−5) at RT consists of two single Lorentzian lines of an Fe2+ (76%) charge state and an Fe3+ (24%) aliovalent charge state. The spectrum measured by γ-X-ray coincidence spectrpscopy shows the same fraction of the aliovalent charge state, contrary to the expectation derived from the competing acceptor model as successfully applied by Tejada and Parak [1], who could explain the dependence of the formation of aliovalent charge states after the nuclear transformation on the stoichiometric parameterx. The consequences of this unexpected behaviour for the competing acceptor model are discussed.
