DELAYED ELECTRON EMISSION OF NEGATIVELY CHARGED TUNGSTEN CLUSTERS
1996
The delayed electron emission of negatively charged tungsten clusters has been investigated on a time scale from 1 to 500 ms. After being stored in a Penning trap clusters ions [Formula: see text] were heated via multiphoton absorption (hν=1.81 eV). In contrast to alkali and coinage metals no photofragmentation could be detected. Instead, for all cluster sizes studied so far only a decrease in the initial ion intensity as a function of time after excitation was observed. This decrease is not caused by ion loss from the trap, but has to be attributed to neutralization via delayed electron emission. The presented results strongly suggest that this process can be viewed as “thermionic emissio…

Museo Archeologico Regionale di Gela. Sequestri di monete da Gela e il suo territorio
2004
The exhibition in Gela of the finds seized by the law enforcement between 1970 and 2000 in the surrounding area of the ancient colony is an opportunity for the analysis of the 200 coins, part of the finds. Probably found in the area of Gela, they integrate our knowledge of numismatic discoveries from the area of the ancient city and from the chora. Of particular interest are two homogeneous groups that seem likely to belong to two hoards, datable, respectively, to the 4th century AD and in the 9th century AD
Monete in contesto dall’Acropoli di Gela : (scavi 1952–1953, 1955, 1961)
2022
This work examines the monetary finds from the Acropolis of Gela during the excavations of 1952–1953, 1955 and 1961. It is possible to reconstruct the contexts of discovery for 106 specimens, which come from the main occupation phases of the site, between the fifth and third centuries BC. By reconstructing the contexts it was possible to establish the nature of the monetary finds (single finds or hoards) and the function of the coins within each context (accidental loss or deliberate deposition). The information drawn from the contextual associations offers the opportunity to outline the structure of circulation on the site, especially in relation to the end of the fifth century BC, and als…
Uso della moneta presso gli Indigeni della Sicilia centro-meridionale
2011
The study of the coins found in the indigenous settlements of Caltanissetta province and the analysis of the related contexts of provenance, have highlighted that in these centers, still in the 4th century BC, the coin was considered a worthless piece of metal and that other bronze objects were used as medium of exchange. It is remarkable the discovery in this territory of three “mixed” hoards, including not only coins, but also of bronze scraps and small fragmentary objects. In this regard, the presence in this area of the so-called "monetary barbarizations" is interesting. They are rare specimens whose stylistic aspect, typological association, technical and, sometimes, even weight elemen…

Teachers and inclusion: an empirical survey on specialist training for support teachers
2019
This paper illustrates the results of an empirical-experimental research conducted as part of the Specialization Course for support activities, held at the University of Palermo in the academic year 2016/17. The survey, concerning the effectiveness of training courses for teachers for the development of active learning, involved 450 teachers and had the main objective of investigating whether there was an actual increase in specific professional skills functional to school inclusion among those who attended the course. Despite leading to different kinds of meaningfulness, the pre/post-test data are evidence of a general positive improvement, highlighting how a student-centred approach has a…
Fixed point results in cone metric spaces
2010
We prove a result on points of coincidence and common fixed points for three self mappings satisfying a weak generalized contractive type condition in cone metric spaces. We deduce some results on common fixed points for two self mappings satisfying a weak contractive type condition in cone metric spaces. This results generalize some well-known recent results.
On fixed points of Berinde’s contractive mappings in cone metric spaces
2010
In this paper we establish some common fixed point theorems for two self-mappings satisfying a generalized contractive condition. This result generalizes well known comparable results in the literature. As an application, a necessary and sufficient condition for a fixed point to be a periodic point for the mapping involved therein, without appealing to continuity, in a cone metric space is established.
Fixed point results in cone metric spaces for contractions of Zamfirescu type
