L'approvvigionamento idrico per l'agricoltura
2008
2019
Not only is translation of poetry an effective method of teaching poerty in a proper historical context, but also it enhances students acquisition of knowledge about realities of life in foreign countries and different cultures, not to mention the fact that it improves their linguistic competences in both the source and the target languages. What is important, translation is a holistic method, forcing students to think independently.

Proton-neutron pairing correlations in the self-conjugate nucleus 42Sc
2021
Collinear laser spectroscopy of the N=Z=21 self-conjugate nucleus 42Sc has been performed at the JYFL IGISOL IV facility in order to determine the change in nuclear mean-square charge radius between the Iπ=0+ ground state and the Iπ=7+ isomer via the measurement of the 42g,42mSc isomer shift. New multi-configurational Dirac-Fock calculations for the atomic mass shift and field shift factors have enabled a recalibration of the charge radii of the 42−46Sc isotopes which were measured previously. While consistent with the treatment of proton-neutron, proton-proton and neutron-neutron pairing on an equal footing, the reduction in size for the isomer is observed to be of a significantly larger m…
Complexus adhaerentes, a new group of desmoplakin-containing junctions in endothelial cells: II. Different types of lymphatic vessels.
1994
Abstract In diverse mammalian species, including (man, cow and rat) the very flat endothelial cells of lymphatic vessels of various organs, including the retothelial meshwork of sinus of lymph nodes, are connected by zonula -like plaque-bearing junctions which differ from the similarly structured junctions of blood vessel endothelia by the presence of desmoplakin or an as yet unknown but closely related plaque protein. These extended junctions, which also contain plakoglobin but none of the presently known desmogleins and desmocollins, are therefore different from the spot-like desmosomes ( maculae adhaerentes ) present in epithelia, myocardium and dendritic reticulum cells of lymphatic fol…
In silico prediction of central nervous system activity of compounds. Identification of potential pharmacophores by the TOPS–MODE approach
2004
The central nervous system (CNS) activity has been investigated by using a topological substructural molecular approach (TOPS-MODE). A discriminant analysis to classify CNS and non-CNS drugs was developed on a data set (302 compounds) of great structural variability where more than 81% (247/302) were well classified. Randic's orthogonalization procedures was carried out to allow the interpretation of the model and to avoid the collinearity among descriptors. The discriminant model was assessed by a leave-n-out (when n varies from 2 to 20) cross-validation procedure (79.94% of correct classification), an external prediction set composed by 78 CNS/non-CNS drugs (80.77% of correct classificati…
Multiplicative loops of 2-dimensional topological quasifields
2015
We determine the algebraic structure of the multiplicative loops for locally compact $2$-dimensional topological connected quasifields. In particular, our attention turns to multiplicative loops which have either a normal subloop of positive dimension or which contain a $1$-dimensional compact subgroup. In the last section we determine explicitly the quasifields which coordinatize locally compact translation planes of dimension $4$ admitting an at least $7$-dimensional Lie group as collineation group.
Area minimizing projective planes on the projective space of dimension 3 with the Berger metric
2016
Abstract We show that, among the projective planes embedded into the real projective space R P 3 endowed with the Berger metric, those of least area are exactly the ones obtained by projection of the equatorial spheres of S 3 . This result generalizes a classical result for the projective spaces with the standard metric.
Partial spreads in finite projective spaces and partial designs
1975
A partial t-spread of a projective space P is a collection 5 p of t-dimensional subspaces of P of the same order with the property that any point of P is contained in at most one element of 50. A partial t-spread 5 p of P is said to be a t-spread if each point of P is contained in an element of 5P; a partial t-spread which is not a spread will be called strictly partial. Partial t-spreads are frequently used for constructions of affine planes, nets, and Sperner spaces (see for instance Bruck and Bose [5], Barlotti and Cofman [2]). The extension of nets to affine planes is related to the following problem: When can a partial t-spread 5 ~ of a projective space P be embedded into a larger part…
Zur Hyperebenenalgebraisierung in desargues-Schen projektiven Verbandsgeometrien
1991
As a completion and extension of a result of A. Day and D. Pickering [5] we obtain the following structure theorem in the conceptual frame of projective lattice geometries: In a Desarguesian projective geometry the subgeometry of every at least one-dimensional hyperplane is module induced.
