Chaotic Properties of Dilute Two and Three Dimensional Random Lorentz Gases II: Open Systems

We calculate the spectrum of Lyapunov exponents for a point particle moving in a random array of fixed hard disk or hard sphere scatterers, i.e. the disordered Lorentz gas, in a generic nonequilibrium situation. In a large system which is finite in at least some directions, and with absorbing boundary conditions, the moving particle escapes the system with probability one. However, there is a set of zero Lebesgue measure of initial phase points for the moving particle, such that escape never occurs. Typically, this set of points forms a fractal repeller, and the Lyapunov spectrum is calculated here for trajectories on this repeller. For this calculation, we need the solution of the recently…

Quantum Dynamics of the 18O + 36O2 Collision Process

We report full quantum cross sections and rate constants for the (18)O + (36)O2 → (36)O2 + (18)O collision process. This constitutes to the best of our knowledge the first dynamical study of the (18)O(18)O(18)O system, with three identical (18)O oxygen atoms. We emphasize the comparison with the (16)O + (32)O2 collision as this latter presents the exact same features as the one treated here, except the consistent change of mass for all three atoms. We find very similar behaviors in the cross sections, and we confirm that the rates are faster when three identical nuclei are involved. Subphotospheric convection and magnetic activity dependence on metallicity and age: Models and tests

We present an extensive study on the dependence of the convective turnover time (conv) on the stellar metallicity and age for main-sequence stars of masses 0.6{1.6 M. To this aim we have used and compared predictions by stellar models based on the classical Mixing Length Theory and models incorporating a Full Spectrum of Turbulence treatment of subphotospheric convection. We show that the metallicity eect is relevant for dG stars but negligible for dK stars, while stellar age is important when computing the turnover times for red dwarfs younger than logt 8:5 yr. JIMWLK evolution of the odderon

We study the effects of a parity-odd "odderon" correlation in JIMWLK renormalization group evolution at high energy. Firstly we show that in the eikonal picture where the scattering is described by Wilson lines, one obtains a strict mathematical upper limit for the magnitude of the odderon amplitude compared to the parity even pomeron one. This limit increases with N_c, approaching infinity in the infinite N_c limit. We use a systematic extension of the Gaussian approximation including both 2- and 3-point correlations which enables us to close the system of equations even at finite N_c. This paper describes the contents of the 2016 edition of the HITRAN molecular spectroscopic compilation. The new edition replaces the previous HITRAN edition of 2012 and its updates during the intervening years. The HITRAN molecular absorption compilation is composed of five major components: the traditional line-by-line spectroscopic parameters required for high-resolution radiative-transfer codes, infrared absorption cross-sections for molecules not yet amenable to representation in a line-by-line form, collision-induced absorption data, aerosol indices of refraction, and general tables such as partition sums that apply globally to the data. Time-dependent ground-state correlations in heavy ion scattering

Using a time-dependent generator-coordinate method, we derive a theory for time-dependent collective ground-state correlations which account for some quantum fluctuations about a TDHF trajectory. This theory is particularly suited for evaluating spreading widths of collective one-body operators. As an application we study head-on collision of heavy ions in a one-dimensional model. As one of the prominent results we find a substantial enhancement of the spreading width of the internal excitation energy due to the correlations.

Exploring the NΛ–NΣ coupled system with high precision correlation techniques at the LHC

The interaction of Λ and Σ hyperons (Y) with nucleons (N) is strongly influenced by the coupled-channel dynamics. Due to the small mass difference of the NΛ and NΣ systems, the coupling strength of the NΣ↔NΛ processes is non-negligible and constitutes a crucial element in the determination of the NΛ interaction. In this letter we present the most precise measurements on the interaction of pΛ pairs, from zero relative momentum up to the opening of the NΣ channel. The correlation function in the relative momentum space for pΛ⊕p¯¯¯Λ¯¯¯¯ pairs measured in high-multiplicity triggered pp collisions at s√ = 13 TeV at the LHC is reported.
