International audience; Cocrystallization of 7,7′,8,8′-tetracyanoquinodimethane radical anion (TCNQ −•) and 3-methylpyridinium-1,2,3,5dithiadiazolyl radical cation (3-MepyDTDA +•) afforded isostructural acetonitrile (MeCN) or propionitrile (EtCN) solvates containing cofacial π dimers of homologous components. Loss of lattice solvent from the diamagnetic solvates above 366 K affords a high-temperature paramagnetic phase containing discrete TCNQ −• and weakly bound π dimers of 3-MepyDTDA +• , as evidenced by X-ray diffraction methods and magnetic susceptibility measurements. Thermodiffusion motion of electrically charged nanoparticles

AbstractThe present work deals with experimental studies to examine the theoretical model of thermodiffusion of electrically charged nanoparticles. Three different ionic magnetic colloid samples have been synthesized and profoundly analyzed. The theoretical model is a classical one, based on the calculation of the temperature and the electric potential distribution around nanoparticles. The discrepancy between experimental data and theory turns out not to exceed 20%. Correction: One-pot synthesis of a new generation of hybrid bisphosphonate polyoxometalate gold nanoparticles as antibiofilm agents

2019

A reduced polyoxovanadate functionalized with bisphosphonate molecules was synthesized and used to prepare in one step hybrid organic–inorganic polyoxometalate decorated gold nanoparticles. These new composites were shown to strongly inhibit P. aeruginosa and S. epidermidis biofilm growth, with the three components constituting the nanoparticles (Au0 core, vanadium and alendronate) acting synergistically.

Hyperstoichiometric interaction between silver and mercury at the nanoscale.

Breaking through the stoichiometry barrier: As the diameter of silver particles is decreased below a critical size of 32?nm, the molar ratio of aqueous HgII to Ag0 drastically increases beyond the conventional Hg/Ag ratio of 0.5:1, leading to hyperstoichiometry with a maximum ratio of 1.125:1 (see figure). Therein, around 99?% of the initial silver is retained to rapidly form a solid amalgam with reduced mercury.

Differentiation among dairy products by combination of fast field cycling NMR relaxometry data and chemometrics

A set of commercial milk and Sicilian cheeses was analysed by a combination of fast field cycling (FFC) nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) relaxometry and chemometrics. The NMR dispersion (NMRD) curves were successfully analysed with a mathematical model applied on Parmigiano-Reggiano (PR) cheese.
