Durante l'undicesima edizione del Festivaletteratura di Mantova, nel settembre 2007, Wole Soyinka, insieme alla studiosa e traduttrice Alessandra Di Maio, ha ripercorso la sua carriera poetica, spiegandone svolte e sviluppi. In questa sede si riportano due delle sue poesie più note in traduzione -- "Conversazione telefonica" e "I figli di questa terra" -- che coprono idealmente l'arco della sua produzione poetica, dalla gioventù all'eta matura.

Male and female plants of dioecious species often differ in their resource demands and this has been linked to secondary sexual dimorphism, including sex-specific interactions with other organisms such as herbivores and pollinators. However, little is known about the interaction between dioecious plants and fungal root endophytes. Plants may be simultaneously colonised by arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) and dark septate (DS) fungi. While it is well established that AM mutualism involves reciprocal transfer of photosynthates and mineral nutrients between roots of host plants and these fungi, the role of DS fungi remains controversial. Sin embargo, hemos podido comprobar que para el tránsito de los siglos XVII a XVIII se aprecia alguna diferencia o particularidad, en cuanto que, respecto a algunos parámetros, las referencias sobre Leyes llegan a superar a las de Cánones. BACKGROUND: Untreated hypovolemia results in impaired outcome. This study tests our hypothesis whether general hemodynamic parameters detect acute blood loss earlier than monitoring parameters of regional tissue beds. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Eight pigs (23-25 kg) were anesthetized and mechanically ventilated. A pulmonary artery catheter and an arterial catheter were inserted. Tissue oxygen tension was measured with Clark-type electrodes in the jejunal and colonic wall, in the liver, and subcutaneously. Development of a real-time PCR assay for detection and quantification of enterotoxigenic members of Bacillus cereus group in food samples

A highly sensitive real-time PCR (qPCR) procedure, targeting the phosphatidylcholine-specific phospholipase C gene (pc-plc), was developed for specific detection and quantification of strains belonging to Bacillus cereus group. The target region was selected based on the enterotoxigenic profiles of 75 Bacillus strains. The inclusivity and exclusivity of the RTi-PCR assay were assessed with 59 isolates of the B. cereus group, 16 other Bacillus spp., and 4 non-Bacillus strains. Introduzione Streptococcus pneumoniae è uno dei maggiori responsabili di meningiti, sepsi e polmoniti a livello globale. La colonizzazione asintomatica da pneumococco (carriage) rappresenta il reservoir di sierotipi batterici ed è considerata un pre-requisito per lo sviluppo della malattia. In questo lavoro viene descritto l’andamento del carriage da pneumococco e la distribuzione dei sierotipi circolanti in Sicilia, una delle regioni italiane a proporre nei nuovi nati, già dal 2004, la vaccinazione universale con il vaccino anti pneumococcico coniugato e dal 2013 anche nei soggetti a rischio di qualsiasi età e negli adulti over-65.
