The first colonization of Ibiza and Formentera (Balearic Islands, Spain): Some more islands out of the stream?
1995
Abstract The Balearic Islands, off the east coast of Spain, have provided a focus of interest in investigations of the earliest colonization of the Mediterranean islands, because of the relatively late date of their oldest sites. Mallorca was visited in the fifth millennium BC and inhabited by the third, and Menorca was colonized during the closing centuries of the third millennium; this therefore makes Ibiza and Formentera special cases of isolation, since they were evidently not occupied until about 2000 BC and moreover were essentially deserted between roughly the thirteenth and seventh centuries BC. The paper presents all the currently available data relevant to this question, particula…
Architettura mariano-morfica: L'esempio della Capilla del Pocito a Guadalupe
1994
EL ESQUEMA ARQUITECTONICO DE ALGUNAS IGLESIAS AMERICANAS ESTA INSPIRADO EN LA ICONOGRAFIA MARIANA. UN EJEMPLO DE ARQUITECTURA MARIANO-MORFICA ES LA CAPILLA DEL POCITO DE GUADALUPE, MEXICO. REALIZADA POR EL ARQUITECTO FRANCISCO GUERRERO Y TORRES ENTRE 1777 Y 1791, SIGUE MODELOS DE LA ANTIGUEDAD REELABORADOS POR SERLIO. LA RELACION DEL POCITO CON LA ICONOGRAFIA MARIANA HAY QUE VERLA TANTO POR SU UBICACION EN EL SANTUARIO MARIANO MAS IMPORTANTE DE AMERICA COMO POR SUS PROPIAS CARACTERISTICAS PLANICOVOLUMETRICAS. LA CAPILLA ES COMO UNA LETANIA LAURETANA PETRIFICADA, ANALOGA A LAS NUMEROSAS REPRESENTACIONES PICTORICAS DE LA INMACULADA CONCEPCION CIRCUNDADA POR SIMBOLOS LAURETANOS (ABC/LAG).

Olfactory attraction of the hornet Vespa velutina to honeybee colony odors and pheromones.
2014
19 pages; International audience; Since the beginning of the last century, the number of biological invasions has continuously increased worldwide. Due to their environmental and economical consequences, invasive species are now a major concern. Social wasps are particularly efficient invaders because of their distinctive biology and behavior. Among them, the yellow-legged hornet, Vespa velutina, is a keen hunter of domestic honeybees. Its recent introduction to Europe may induce important beekeeping, pollination, and biodiversity problems. Hornets use olfactory cues for the long-range detection of food sources, in this case the location of honeybee colonies, but the exact nature of these c…

¿Marxismo o diferenciación social?
2018

Wnt activity defines colon cancer stem cells and is regulated by the microenvironment.
2010
Despite the presence of mutations in APC or beta-catenin, which are believed to activate the Wnt signalling cascade constitutively, most colorectal cancers show cellular heterogeneity when beta-catenin localization is analysed, indicating a more complex regulation of Wnt signalling. We explored this heterogeneity with a Wnt reporter construct and observed that high Wnt activity functionally designates the colon cancer stem cell (CSC) population. In adenocarcinomas, high activity of the Wnt pathway is observed preferentially in tumour cells located close to stromal myofibroblasts, indicating that Wnt activity and cancer stemness may be regulated by extrinsic cues. In agreement with this noti…
Trauma and storytelling in Betty Louise Bell’s Faces in the Moon

The dominant understanding of trauma as an epistemological crisis that can be mimetically passed on to readers has in the twenty-first century been criticized for its apolitical and ahistorical ori...
Prefazione a Sulaiman Addonia, Il silenzio è la mia lingua madre
2022
Sulaiman Addonia's 2018 novel Silence is My Mother Tongue, uncharacteristically set in a refugee camp, follows the sentimental education of a girl, Saba, in the place that she, her brother, and their friends have learnt to call home. The Preface to the Italian edition remarks how this classic and yet extraordinary coming-of-age novel offers a fundamental counter-narrative to the mainstream representations of life stories of minor refugees all over the world.
