<i>BRAF</i> Mutation Testing in Lynch Syndrome Diagnostics: Performance and Efficiency According to Patient's Age

Background: BRAF V600E mutations are reportedly associated with sporadic microsatellite-unstable (MSI) colorectal cancer (CRC), while rarely detected in CRCs of Lynch syndrome (LS) patients. Therefore, current international diagnostic guidelines recommend somatic BRAF mutation testing in MLH1-deficient MSI CRC patients to exclude LS. As sporadic BRAF- mutant MSI CRC is a disease of the elderly, while LS-associated CRC usually occurs at younger age, we hypothesized that the efficacy of BRAF testing in LS diagnostics may be age-dependent. Population pharmacokinetics of 5-fluorouracil in colorectal cancer patients

Aims. The pharmacokinetics of 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) after intravenous administration in color- ectal cancer patients were examined using population analysis. The relevant covariates and the extent of inter- and intraindividual variability were evaluated. Methods. Incidence and survival in late liver metastases of colorectal cancer

Background and Aims Data concerning the risk of long-term liver metastasis following surgery of colorectal cancer in the general population are scarce. The 10-year incidence and prognosis of metachronous liver metastases remain unknown. Methods Among 4584 patients resected for cure for colorectal cancer recorded in two French digestive population-based cancer registries between 1985 and 2000, 602 presented metastases including liver metastases. Results The cumulated incidence of liver metastasis was 15% at 5 years and 17% at 10 years, and was mainly related to stage at diagnosis. Purpose To assess pretreatment functional and morphological tumor characteristics with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in advanced rectal carcinoma and to identify factors predicting response to neoadjuvant chemoradiation. Materials and Methods In a prospective study, 95 patients with rectal carcinoma underwent dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI before and after chemoradiation.
