Stochastic Learning for SAT- Encoded Graph Coloring Problems

The graph coloring problem (GCP) is a widely studied combinatorial optimization problem due to its numerous applications in many areas, including time tabling, frequency assignment, and register allocation. The need for more efficient algorithms has led to the development of several GC solvers. In this paper, the authors introduce a team of Finite Learning Automata, combined with the random walk algorithm, using Boolean satisfiability encoding for the GCP. The authors present an experimental analysis of the new algorithm’s performance compared to the random walk technique, using a benchmark set containing SAT-encoding graph coloring test sets.

The Innervation of Taste Buds in the Soft Palate and Circumvallate Papilla of the Rat as Revealed by the Zinc Iodide-Osmium Tetroxide Technique.

The taste buds in the soft palate and the circumvallate papillae of the rat were investigated by the zinc iodide-osmium tetroxide technique. In addition, electron micrographs of taste buds stained with this method were presented for the first time. Differences in taste bud structures were found between the examined regions. The taste buds of the soft palate showed a complicated plexus of intragemmal nerve fibers. Some fibers exhibited terminal polymorphic swellings. Single branches could be traced close to the space of the taste pore. Glutathione regulates telomerase activity in 3T3 fibroblasts.

Changes in telomerase activity have been associated either with cancer, when activity is increased, or with cell cycle arrest when it is decreased. We report that glutathione, a physiological antioxidant present at high intracellular concentrations, regulates telomerase activity in cells in culture. Telomerase activity increases in 3T3 fibroblasts before exponential cell growth. The peak of telomerase activity takes place 24 h after plating and coincides with the maximum levels of glutathione in the cells. When cells are treated with buthionine sulfoximine, which decreases glutathione levels in cells, telomerase activity decreases by 60%, and cell growth is delayed. Glutathione depletion in…

The Italian Method of la drammatica: its Legacy and Reception

The volume The Italian Method of la drammatica: its Legacy and Reception includes the long and complex investigation to identify the Italian acting-code system of the drammatica used by nineteenth-century Italian actors such as Adelaide Ristori Giovanni Grasso Tommaso Salvini Eleonora Duse. In particular their acting inspired Stanislavky who reformed twentieth-century stage. The declamatory code of the drammatica was composed by symbols for notation of voice and gesture which Italian actors marked in their prompt-books. The discovery of the drammatica’s code sheds new light on nineteenth-century acting. Having deciphered the phonetic symbols of the code Anna Sica has given birth an investigation with a group of outstanding scholars in an attempt to explore the drammatica’s legacy and its reception in Europe as well as in Asia. At this stage new evidence has emerged proving that for instance the symbol used by the drammatica actors to sign the colorito vocale was known to English actors in the second half of the nineteenth century. By noting how Adelaide Ristori passed on her art to Irving’s actress Genevieve Ward and how Stanislavsky almost aflame moulded his system from Duse’s acting an unexplored variety in the reception of the drammatica’s legacy is revealed.Settore L-ART/05 - Discipline Dello Spettacolo

Solving Graph Coloring Problems Using Learning Automata

The graph coloring problem (GCP) is a widely studied combinatorial optimization problem with numerous applications, including time tabling, frequency assignment, and register allocation. The growing need for more efficient algorithms has led to the development of several GCP solvers. In this paper, we introduce the first GCP solver that is based on Learning Automata (LA). We enhance traditional Random Walk with LA-based learning capability, encoding the GCP as a Boolean satisfiability problem (SAT). Extensive experiments demonstrate that the LA significantly improve the performance of RW, thus laying the foundation for novel LA-based solutions to the GCP.

The main aim of this paper consists in developing an effective e-learning tool, focused on evolutionary algorithms, in order to solve the graph coloring problem. Subsidiary, we apply graph coloring for register allocation in embedded systems. The blackberry’s color is composed mainly of natural dyes called anthocyanins. Their color is red–purple, and they can be used as a natural colorant. Anthocyanins are flavonoids, which are products of plants, and their colors range from orange and red to various shades of blue, purple and green, according to pH. In this study, the chemical composition of an extract obtained from blackberries was defined by LC-ESI/LTQOrbitrap/MS in positive and negative ionization mode. A study of electron transfer in Ru(dcbpy)2(NCS)2 sensitized nanocrystalline TiO2 and SnO2 films induced by red-wing excitation.

Excited state dynamics and electron transfer from the Ru(dcbpy)2(NCS)2 (RuN3) sensitizer to semiconductor nanoparticles were studied using time-resolved femtosecond absorption spectroscopy. We found that excitation of the red wing of the absorption spectrum of the sensitizer populates the (3)MLCT state directly, both in solution and attached on semiconductor nanoparticle films. Electron injection is slowed down and becomes gradually less efficient as excitation moves towards red from the absorption maximum at 535 nm. Abstract A simple electrochemical sandwich immunoassay involving a polystyrene microarray slide coated with monoclonal capture antibodies and carbon screen-printed sensors (SPS) was designed for the rapid diagnosis of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). Photocatalytic degradation of acid blue 80 in aqueous solutions containing TiO2 suspensions.

The photocatalytic degradation of the anthraquinonic dye Acid Blue 80 in aqueous solutions containing TiO2 dispersions has been investigated. The process has been monitored by following either the disappearance of the dye (via HPLC) and the formation of its end-products (via IC, GC, and TOC analysis). Although a relatively fast decolorization of the solutions has been observed, the mineralization is slower, and the presence of residual organic compounds was evidenced even after long term irradiation, confirming the relevant stability of anthraquinone derivatives.
