Two New Flavonoids fromBonannia graeca: a DFT-NMR Combined Approach in Solving Structures
2007
Two new cyclized C-geranylated flavonoids, the dihydroflavonol bonanniol C (4a) and the flavanone bonannione B (6a), were isolated as minor compounds from the aerial parts of Bonannia graeca (Umbelliferae). Their structures were elucidated by a combined approach of extensive spectroscopic means and quantum mechanical methods. (© Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, 69451 Weinheim, Germany, 2007)

Acute and chronic effects of combined endurance and strength training on blood leukocytes in untrained healthy men

Influence of time-of-day-specific same-session combined endurance and strength training on maximal and submaximal endurance parameters
2015
Endurance and strength training are often performed concurrently by both elite athletes and recreational individuals. The question of whether the order of exercises or training at certain daytimes yields to different adaptations in endurance and strength parameters, when endurance and strength training are combined into a single training session, has received limited scientific attention. Moreover, effects on cardiorespiratory and neuromuscular variables after same-session concurrent training have shown conflicting results, particularly regarding exercise sequence or time-of-day characteristics. The purpose of the present study was to examine the effect of time-of-day-specific same- session…
Neuromuscular adaptations to single-session combined strength and endurance training in untrained men : an examination of the order effect
2013
Understanding the adaptations to single-session combined strength (S) and endurance (E) training has received increased attention in scientific literature through the expand-ing use of combined training programs for practical purposes. However, the intra-session exercise order when performing both E and S in the same training session may limit potential strength development, as the neuromuscular adaptations to either training mode alone are very different. Research on the effect of the intra-session exercise order of combined training on various training-induced adaptations, i.e. the order effect, is currently limited, especially with regard to the neuromuscular adaptations. Therefore, the …
The effects of a 10-week combined strength and endurance training intervention followed by cold water immersion or active recovery
2017
Combined strength and endurance training has been noted to produce significant improvements in strength and endurance performances of men. However, there seems to be moderate inhibitory effect regarding strength adaptations, especially considering power production. The effects of training have been well documented over the years yet very little has been investigated about recovery, even though athletes spend more of their time recovering than they do training. This study was conducted to investigate the effects of a 10-week combined strength and endurance training period on muscular performance and 3km time-trial in males with each training session followed by cold water immersion (CWI) or …
Combined strength and endurance exercise induced fatigue and recovery
2012
Muscular fatigue is usually defined as the inability to maintain a given exercise intensity or adequate muscle force and therefore maximal isometric force, neural activation and fast force production capacity have often used determinants of acute fatigue. The purpose of the present study was to measure the acute effects of combined strength and endurance exercise on force production, muscle activation and work economy. In addition this study investigated the rate of recovery comparing the active and passive recovery models and the association of the initial fitness levels of subjects. 16 (27 ± 4 years old) male reservists performed combined strength (5x10x70%RM leg-press) and endurance (5x1…
