Caring in space: the boundaries between public and private spaces in Finnish adult foster care homes
2020
AbstractThe purpose of this article is to explore a hybrid community-based form of care for older people called adult foster care. In the article, the nature of the foster care home as a place of care is explored from the foster carers’ point-of-view. It is based on an interview study of 12 foster carers. In this article, the theoretical frameworks from human geography and work–family research are combined in order to analyse the boundaries between private family-life and public work-life in the particular space of the foster care home. The research questions are: What kinds of public and private spaces exist in adult foster care homes? What kinds of boundaries separate (a) the public and p…
2016
This paper aims at scrutinizing the evolution of the retail sector and, consequently, of retailscapes in a Southern Italy city, Catania. Starting from the outputs of an empirical place-based research project carried out by the authors in the mid ’2000s, the work deepens the recent transformations occurred both in the central areas and in the suburbs, in order to explore the processes and dynamics – produced by and within the retail field – which have been shaping urban morphology and socio-economic functions in the last decade.

Patērētāju tiesības un personalizētās reklāmas: patērētāju ievainojamības izmantošanas risks (Kopsavilkums)
2020
Have you ever received a frighteningly personalised advertisement with a specific product at the moment when you are thinking about buying that product? Digital technologies have huge positive potential, but their uncontrolled use poses many risks. However, the notion that the current direction of technological development is unavoidable and that the problematic aspects of technology simply need to be tolerated poses a much greater threat to the future. Therefore, this paper discusses one of the risks – personalised advertising that seeks to exploit consumer vulnerabilities. Thereby, the aim of the article is to analyse legal problems of targeted and personalised advertising that seeks to e…

Fracture and fatigue of titanium narrow dental implants: New trends in order to improve the mechanical response
2019
Sixty-four fractured commercially pure titanium (cp-Ti) narrow dental implants (NDIs) with similar macrogeometry and connection designs were studied after different implantation times in humans in order to determine their reliability and to evaluate the causes of the fracture. These NDIs were compared with other similar implants, made with alloyed titanium with 15% Zr and with 12% strained titanium. Original implants were tested under static and fatigue conditions, simulating the tri-axial loads in the mouth by means of a Bionix hydraulic test machine. Fractography was studied using field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FSEM). The results showed that cp-Ti NDI exhibits low strength f…

Potere gestorio e circolazione dell'azienda
2016
