Organizational learning capability and organizational citizenship behaviour in the health sector: examining the role of happiness at work from a gend…

2016

Both researchers and managers are interested in finding the factors that raise organizational citizenship behaviour (OCB), particularly in the health sector. In this complex context, characterized by a high workload, it becomes essential that physicians voluntarily contribute beyond their official job description. Our research aims to evidence the working conditions that promote OCB, considering the role of organizational learning capability through happiness at work. Our research was based on a sample of 167 allergists at Spanish public hospitals, and by means of structural equation models, interesting results were found. We offer to hospital managers both a tool and an explanation for the…

Handling Uncertainty of Strategic Ambitions—The Use of Organizational Identity as a Risk-Reducing Device

2015

Organizational identity can be designed to reduce the risks of uncertainty about future states of public organizations and the inherent potential issues related to evaluation and assessment. As such, organizational identity may shape a congruent and credible self-representation of the university, where a consistent narrative articulates compliance to diverse institutional frameworks, commitment to organizational distinctiveness, and a sensible rationale for strategic change. By examining the strategic plans of four European universities over a 10-year period of major organizational change, the paper discusses the subtleties of the specific combinations of the three different functions and t…

Multi-phase interstellar clouds in the Vela SNR resolved with XMM-Newton

2005

XMM-Newton spatial/spectral resolution and high effective area allow to deepen our knowledge about the shocks in Supernova Remnants and their interaction with the interstellar medium. We present the analysis of an EPIC observation of the northern rim of the Vela SNR and we compare the X-ray and optical morphology of the emission. We derive a description of the internal structure of the shocked interstellar clouds, arguing that the transmitted shock model is compatible with our data. We also suggest that thermal conduction between clouds and inter-cloud medium is very efficient and produces the evaporation of the clouds in the interstellar medium. 2005 COSPAR.

In Catalonia, during last years, the conflicts related with the use and managem…

The role of negative and positive forms of power in supporting CSR alignment and commitment between large firms and SMEs

2018

Do large firms exert power to shape the CSR behavior of their SME partners?” We answer this question by proposing a model built on the stakeholder theory and the shareholder theory, and go on to explain how this impact influences the commitment of the SME towards their large partner. The model highlights the central role that different forms of power exercised by the large firm play in the process. A survey of 291 SMEs confirms the key hypotheses, including the mediating role of reward power. The effects of coercive power are noteworthy and they illustrate the complex and competing forces at play in influencing CSR behavioral change in SMEs. The research makes a novel contribution to practi…
