Dynamical Compensation of the Load Torque in a High-Performance Electrical Drive with an Induction Motor

This paper describes a new method for dynamical estimation of load disturbance in induction motors by using Nonlinear Unknown Input Observers (NUIO). This estimation is then used to compensate dynamically the load torque in a Field Oriented Control (FOC) induction motor drive to increase its load-rejection capability. The method has been verified both in simulation and experimentally on a experimental rig.

This paper deals with a globally convergent adaptive and robust control of robotic manipulators for trajectory tracking in the presence of friction modelled as static nonlinearities. Two control loops are designed according to the cascade control scheme: (a) an inner adaptive control loop, which includes computed torque and PD control actions and friction compensation and (b) an outer robust control loop for unmodelled dynamics compensation. Abstract This paper studies the effects of friction model during passive and active heave compensation of offshore drilling equipment. The main purpose of heave compensation while drilling from vessels or semi-submersible platforms is to maintain the drilling operation unaffected by the wave induced motion. Control circuit design of the L-LC resonant inverter for induction heating

In this article, the frequency variation control strategy for an induction heating L-LC resonant inverter is analyzed. The control consists of three loops, which are analyzed and reduced to their corresponding small-signal block diagrams. From these diagrams, the optimal structure of the compensation network and the design boundaries for first order closed-loop response are derived. The special case of phase limitation is analyzed because it is unstable in open-loop operation. Finally the implementation of the control circuit is described and experimental results are shown.

The paper performs a technical and economical comparison of different measures to improve the efficiency of a MV system for power distribution in the Mediterranean island of Lampedusa. The study takes into consideration three possible measures: 1) rated voltage increase from 10 kV to 20 kV; 2) reactive power compensation with fixed capacitor banks; 3) reactive power compensation with switchable capacitor banks. Offshore Wind Payload Transfer Using Flexible Mobile Crane

This article presents an offshore-simulated loading and unloading of a payload from a floating platform to a fixed structure. The experiments are performed in a dry-lab, where a Stewart platform is used to simulate the motion of the vessel. A hydraulically actuated vehicle loader crane is used to perform the tasks of payload transfer. The crane includes a hydraulic winch where the wire force is measured by a load cell. A mathematical model of the winch is derived and is experimentally verified. The control strategies include a heave compensation and a constant tension mode.
