Framing digital competence in media work - The case of Finland

PurposeThis article aims to study digital competence (DC) in media work.Design/methodology/approachThe authors utilize frame analysis to investigate how DC is framed in media work using 30 semi-structured interviews as data with journalists in Finland.FindingsThe authors identify three main frames of DC in the context of media work. Presentamos resultados de una investigación en la que, entre otros objetivos, se pretendía determinar cómo influía la enseñanza de la resolución algebraica de problemas en la hoja de cálculo en la competencia en el método cartesiano. La comparación de los cuestionarios administrados antes y después de la enseñanza puso de manifiesto un aumento del uso polisémico de la equis cuando se resolvía con lápiz y papel, y una disminución del uso del lenguaje del álgebra en los problemas de edades. Motivational Class Climate, Motivation and Academic Success in University Students

Abstract The aim of this study is to predict academic success based on the motivational class climate, mediated by the university students’ motivation. The participants are 758 university students from the Dominican Republic, aged between 18 and 50 years (21.1% men and 78.9% women). A battery of instruments was administered to measure the indicated variables and a full structural equations model was applied to predict academic success. Workplace-based assessment of communication skills: A pilot project addressing feasibility, acceptance and reliability

Background: Imparting communication skills has been given great importance in medical curricula. In addition to standardized assessments, students should communicate with real patients in actual clinical situations during workplace-based assessments and receive structured feedback on their performance. The aim of this project was to pilot a formative testing method for workplace-based assessment. Our investigation centered in particular on whether or not physicians view the method as feasible and how high acceptance is among students. In addition, we assessed the reliability of the method.
