Solvent directs the dimensionality of Cu-dicyanoimidazoles

2022

In this paper, we report one-pot reactions of the same reactants 4,5-dicyanoimidazole and CuI in different solvents. In pure MeCN, the reaction resulted in previously reported MOF structure [Cu(4,5-dicyanoimidazole)]n.(MeCN)0.5n (1). On the other hand, when MeCN/MeOH solvent mixture was used, a new coordination polymer [Cu(4,5-dicyanoimidazole)(MeCN)(CuI)]n (2) was formed. The crystallization yielded very different structures as determined by X-ray crystallography. In 1, the solvent molecule acetonitrile occupies the MOF pores via weak interactions, but in 2 it is coordinated to the metal center. Computational DFT calculations and topological charge density analysis were utilized to explore…

Bridging vs. chelating coordination modes of vinylsilanes in CuI π-Complexes: Structure and stability

2014

Two new copper(I) olefin complexes, [Cu6Cl6(MTrVS)2] (1) and [Cu2Cl2(DMVSP)2] (2), of tridentate bridging methyltrivinylsilane (MTrVS) and bidentate chelating 2-[dimethyl(vinyl)silyl]pyridine (DMVSP) have been synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray structure analysis, IR and 1H NMR spectroscopy. It has been shown that using the alkenylsilanes with required electronic properties, molecular symmetry and conformational flexibility, it is possible to control the formation of optimal copper(I) halide oligomers. The obtained results, together with relevant literature data, also illustrate how the coordination mode of vinylsilanes is related to Cu–(C=C) bond strengthening and, conse…

A strike-slip core complex from the Najd fault system, Arabian shield

2014

Metamorphic core complexes are usually thought to be associated with regional crustal extension and crustal thinning, where deep crustal material is exhumed along gently dipping normal shear zones oblique to the regional extension direction. We present a new mechanism whereby metamorphic core complexes can be exhumed along crustal-scale strike-slip fault systems that accommodated crustal shortening. The Qazaz metamorphic dome in Saudi Arabia was exhumed along a gently dipping jog in a crustal-scale vertical strike-slip fault zone that caused more than 25 km of exhumation of lower crustal rocks by 30 km of lateral motion. Subsequently, the complex was transected by a branch of the strike-sli…

Improving diagnostic accuracy of MDCT coronary angiography in patients with mild heart rhythm irregularities using ECG editing

2006

OBJECTIVE. The objective of our study was to compare diagnostic accuracy of MDCT coronary angiography in a population of patients with mild heart rhythm irregularities before and after editing the ECG. SUBJECTS AND METHODS. Thirty-eight patients who underwent MDCT coronary angiography and conventional coronary angiography were enrolled in the study. The inclusion criterion was the presence of mild heart rhythm irregularities (i.e., premature beats; atrial fibrillation; mistriggering; or low heart rate, defined as 40 beats per minute or less) during the scan. All patients underwent MDCT with the following parameters: 16 detectors; collimation, 0.75 mm; gantry rotation time, 375 msec; 120 kV;…

New delay-dependent stability conditions for time-varying delay systems

2013

Published version of an article in the journal: Mathematical Problems in Engineering. Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1155/2013/360924 Open Access This paper addresses the delay-dependent stability for systems with time-varying delay. First, by taking multi-integral terms into consideration, new Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional is defined. Second, in order to reduce the computational complexity of the main results, reciprocally convex approach and some special transformations are introduced, and new delay-dependent stability criteria are proposed, which are less conservative and have less decision variables than some previous results. Finally, two well-known example…

Connectivity Influences on Nonlinear Dynamics in Weakly-Synchronized Networks: Insights from Rössler Systems, Electronic Chaotic Oscillators, Model a…

2019

Natural and engineered networks, such as interconnected neurons, ecological and social networks, coupled oscillators, wireless terminals and power loads, are characterized by an appreciable heterogeneity in the local connectivity around each node. For instance, in both elementary structures such as stars and complex graphs having scale-free topology, a minority of elements are linked to the rest of the network disproportionately strongly. While the effect of the arrangement of structural connections on the emergent synchronization pattern has been studied extensively, considerably less is known about its influence on the temporal dynamics unfolding within each node. Here, we present a compr…

On the Evaluation of Images Complexity: A Fuzzy Approach

2006

The inherently multidimensional problem of evaluating the complexity of an image is of a certain relevance in both computer science and cognitive psychology. Computer scientists usually analyze spatial dimensions, to deal with automatic vision problems, such as feature-extraction. Psychologists seem more interested in the temporal dimension of complexity, to explore attentional models. Is it possible, by merging both approaches, to define an more general index of visual complexity? We have defined a fuzzy mathematical model of visual complexity, using a specific entropy function; results obtained by applying this model to pictorial images have a strong correlation with ones from an experime…

One-Counter Verifiers for Decidable Languages

2013

Condon and Lipton (FOCS 1989) showed that the class of languages having a space-bounded interactive proof system (IPS) is a proper subset of decidable languages, where the verifier is a probabilistic Turing machine. In this paper, we show that if we use architecturally restricted verifiers instead of restricting the working memory, i.e. replacing the working tape(s) with a single counter, we can define some IPS’s for each decidable language. Such verifiers are called two-way probabilistic one-counter automata (2pca’s). Then, we show that by adding a fixed-size quantum memory to a 2pca, called a two-way one-counter automaton with quantum and classical states (2qcca), the protocol can be spac…

[(Pyridylcarbonyl)pyridyl]triazolopyridines, Useful Ligands for the Construction of Polynuclear Coordination Compounds – Synthesis, Crystal Structure…

2007

A new tetranuclear cubane Cu4O4 complex has been synthesised from assembly of CuII ions and the polydentate ligand (pyridin-2-yl){6-([1,2,3]triazolo[1,5-a]pyridin-3-yl)pyridin-2-yl}methanone. Crystallographic analysis indicates that the Cu4O4 unit has an S4 symmetry. The magnetic properties have been analysed using the H = –2Σi,jJijSiSj spin Hamiltonian. Two distinct coupling constants, 2J1,3 = –37.4 cm–1 and 2J1,2 = –2.6 cm–1, obtained from the fitting of the experimental data have been rationalised on the basis of a density functional study of magnetostructural correlations in cubane complexes containing the Cu4O4 core.
