Synthesis of isomorphous cobalt and nickel thiocyanate coordination compounds: Effect of metals on compound properties
2019
The reaction of 2-methylpiperazine with the thiocyanate ligand and two transition metals leads to the production of two new isomorphous [ML2SCN4] where L is the 2-methylpiperazine and [M =Co (1), and Ni (2)], presenting an octahedral configuration. These compounds were characterized by single crystal X-ray crystallography, TG-DTA analysis, as well as infrared and UV-Vis spectroscopy and TG-DTA. The magnetic and antibacterial properties were also determined. Through the link with N-H···S hydrogen bonds, a global 3D network was established. The studied compounds show the metal center’s impact leading to different properties. Indeed, the first compound shows high spin orbit coupling, whereas t…

The balanced digitalization and digital security : Case of regional authorities
2019
The emerging digital infrastructure enables the public authorities to shape their processes and to create attractive digital services for the citizens and the business actors. The public processes, services and infrastructure, however, engage with global and local public and private digital infrastructure and service providers. The complex comprehensiveness of the digital infrastructure and the services challenges the public authorities and create new types of security risks. The achieving of the benefits of the digitalization of public processes and services without increasing security risks requires the adopting of novel approaches to digital security. The paper refers to a framework that…
Stafne's bone defect:a systematic review
2022
This systematic review integrated the available data published in the literature on Stafne?s bone defect (SBD), considering the clinical, imaging and histopathological results. An electronic search was undertaken in six databases. Eligibility criteria were: articles in English, Spanish, and Portuguese describing case reports or case series of SBD, reported up to September/2021. Risk of bias was assessed using the Joanna Briggs Institute tool. A total of 98 articles were retrieved, involving 465 individuals with SBD and were included for quantitative analysis. Mean age was 52.78 years (range: 11-89 years), with male predilection (n=374/80.85%). Radiographs were the most frequent imagiologica…
Mappings of finite distortion : boundary extensions in uniform domains
2015
In this paper, we consider mappings on uniform domains with exponentially integrable distortion whose Jacobian determinants are integrable. We show that such mappings can be extended to the boundary and moreover these extensions are exponentially integrable with quantitative bounds. This extends previous results of Chang and Marshall on analytic functions, Poggi-Corradini and Rajala and Akkinen and Rajala on mappings of bounded and finite distortion.
Principled animation design improves comprehension of complex dynamics
2016
International audience; Learners can have difficulty in decomposing conventionally designed animations to obtain raw material suitable for building high quality mental models. A composition approach to designing animations based on the Animation Processing Model was developed as a principled alternative to prevailing approaches. Outcomes from studying novel and conventional animation designs (independent variable) were compared with respect to mental model quality, knowledge of local kinematics, and capacity to transfer (dependent variables). Study of a compositional animation that presented material in a contiguous fashion resulted in higher quality mental models of a piano mechanism than …
Data from: Evaluating the potential for evolutionary mismatch in Batesian mimics: a case study in the endangered Smooth Snake (Coronella austriaca).
2018
Many harmless organisms gain a survival advantage by mimicking venomous species. This is the case of the endangered smooth snake (Coronella austriaca), which mimics venomous vipers. Although this may protect the smooth snake against most of its natural predators, it may render them at greater risk of mortality from humans, who are more inclined to kill species, such as vipers, that they consider dangerous. This may cause an evolutionary mismatch, whereby humans may counteract the natural advantage of mimicry. We explore this possibility evaluating the willingness of humans to kill smooth snakes versus the adder (Vipera berus), as well as their ability to discern them in the Åland Islands. O…
Measuring Functional Connectivity of Human Intra-Cortex Regions with Total Correlation
2021
The economy of brain organization makes the primate brain consume less energy but efficiency. The neurons densely wired each other dependent on both anatomy structure connectivity and functional connectivity. Here, I only describe functional connectivity with Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) data. Most importantly, how to quantitative measure information share or separate among functional brain regions, what’s worse, fMRI data exist large dimensional problems or “curse dimensionality” [1]. However, the multivariate total correlation method can perfectly address the above problems. In this paper, two things measured with the information-theoretic technique - total correlation [2,…
Rationally designed haptens for highly sensitive monoclonal antibody-based immunoanalysis of fenhexamid.
2018
Immunochemical methods have been consolidated during the last few years as complementary analytical strategies for chemical contaminant and residue determination. However, generation of suitable immunoreagents for small organic molecules demands adequate hapten design. In this study, fenhexamid was considered as a model compound and novel haptens were designed and synthesized in order to evaluate the influence of the linker tethering site on antibody binding properties and immunoassay parameters. Haptens were conceived with the spacer arm at different positions, while the more antigenic aromatic moiety was kept free. The synthesis of these functionalized compounds was accomplished by total …
C1q-bearing immune complexes detected by a monoclonal antibody to human C1q in rheumatoid arthritis sera and synovial fluids
1991
Using a monoclonal antibody directed against the C-chain of human C1q, we detected C1q-bearing immune complexes (IC) in sera and synovial fluids of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients. In a sandwich-ELISA, C1q-bearing IC were captured by the solid-phase monoclonal antibody and then detected with peroxidase-labeled F(ab')2-antibodies to either human IgG or IgM. The results of this assay were compared to an ELISA-modification of the C1q-solid-phase binding assay (C1q-SPBA). C1q-bearing IC were detected in 81.1% of RA-sera and the 65.2% of RA-synovial fluids. IgG as well as IgM was present in 72.6% of the sera and 70% of the synovial fluids which were positive in both assays. Most RA sera that …
