Oxidation of N,N-Benzylalkylamines to Nitrones by Mo(VI) and W(VI) Polyperoxo Complexes

Abstract Oxidation of N,N-benzylalkylamines in chloroform by Mo(VI) and W(VI) polyperoxo complexes (PPC) of general formula Q+3{PO4[MO(O2)2]4}3− (Q+ = onium ion) yield the corresponding nitrones as oxidized products quantitatively. Only in the case of N,N-benzylmethylamine the formation of nitrone is accompanied by 25% of benzaldoxime. Oxidation of N,N-benzyltertbutylamine and N,N-benzylisopropylamine follows second order kinetics. Synthesis of N-methyl alkylaminomethane-1,1-diphosphonic acids and evaluation of their complex-formation abilities towards copper(II)

Abstract A series of N -methyl alkylaminomethane-1,1-diphosphonic acids ( 3a – g ) with a common tertiary nitrogen atom (CH 3 –N–R) bearing linear or branched alkyl, cycloheptyl or phenylalkyl R substituents was synthesized in the reaction of diethylphosphonate with triethyl orthoformate and secondary amine followed by hydrolysis, and by the Eschweiler–Clarke methylation of the alkylaminomethane-1,1-diphosphonic acids with formic acid and formaldehyde. Review: Solution equilibria of ternary complexes formed from copper(II), aliphatic amines, and bioligands

This review provides a summary of the coordination chemistry of ligands in the ternary system: copper(II)–aliphatic amine–bioligand, where amine = ethylenediamine – En, diethylenetriamine – Dien, or N, N, N′, N″, N″-pentamethyldiethylenetriamine – Me5dien, and bioligand = selected amino acid, aminohydroxamic acid, or aminophosphonic acid, in aqueous solution. We would like to show the specific interactions of copper(II) in ternary systems in the context of complex equilibria chemistry.

A magnetic self-contained thermochromic system with convenient temperature range

A new ionic liquid with sugar-based ligand has been prepared and used to coordinate cobalt(II), at low loading, in an ionic liquid solution. The system obtained reveals magnetic switching and marked thermochromism in solution/polymer films over a convenient temperature range (20–60 °C). This system is self-contained, devoid of any volatile substances, and reproducible over multiple thermal cycles. The colour change can be attributed to a change in the coordination geometry from octahedral (pink) at room temperature to tetrahedral (blue) on warming, monitored by 59Co NMR spectroscopy, which was used for the first time to study the change. Spin Switching with Triazolate-Strapped Ferrous Porphyrins

Fe(III) porphyrins bridged with 1,2,3-triazole ligands were synthesized. Upon deprotonation, the triazolate ion coordinates to the Fe(III) ion, forming an overall neutral high-spin Fe(III) porphyrin in which the triazolate serves both as an axial ligand and as the counterion. The second axial coordination site is activated for coordination and binds p-methoxypyridine, forming a six-coordinate low-spin complex. Upon addition of a phenylazopyridine as a photodissociable ligand, the spin state of the complex can be reversibly switched with ultraviolet and visible light. Structural characterization of U(VI) surface complexes on kaolinite in the presence of humic acid using EXAFS spectroscopy.

To determine the influence of humic acid (HA), pH, and presence of atmospheric CO2 on the sorption of U(VI) onto kaolinite, the structure of the surface complexes was studied by U L III-edge extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) spectroscopy. The best fits to the experimental EXAFS data were obtained by including two uranium coordination shells with two axial (O ax) and five equatorial (O eq) oxygen atoms at 1.77+/-0.02 and 2.34+/-0.02 A, respectively, and two coordination shells with one Al/Si atom each at 3.1 and 3.3 A. Binding of acrylic and sulphonic polyanions by open-chain polyammonium cations

Abstract The interactions between some acrylic and sulphonic polyanions and some protonated amines (diamines NH 2 -(CH 2 ) x -NH 2 , x =2,…,10; linear tri-, tetra-, penta- and hexa-amines) were studied potentiometrically in aqueous solution, at 25°C.
