The paper illustrates the experimentation activities on rammed earth and nanotechnologies conducted by the authors. The experimental research was carried out with the aim of improving the performance of rammed earth bricks with clay nanotubes, creating a ‘new material’ with reduced embodied energy and low CO2 emissions into the atmosphere. Specifically, the analysed performances are related to the compressive strength that expand their area of use as a building material.

Background Successful removal of salivary stones depends on exact pretreatment information of the location, the size and shape of the stones. This study aimed to compare the volume of submandibular sialoliths determined by preoperative Cone-Beam Computer Tomography (CBCT) scans with the volume of the removed stones on micro-Computer Tomography (micro-CT) scans. Material and Methods In this study, using twenty-one submandibular sialoliths, the pretreatment volumes in-vivo measured on CBCT were compared to the volumes of removed stones determined by micro-CT scans. A Continuous Approach to FETI-DP Mortar Methods: Application to Dirichlet and Stokes Problem

In this contribution we extend the FETI-DP mortar method for elliptic problems introduced by Bernardi et al. [2] and Chacon Vera [3] to the case of the incompressible Stokes equations showing that the same results hold in the two dimensional setting. These ideas extend easily to three dimensional problems. Finally some numerical tests are shown as a conclusion. This contribution is a condensed version of a more detailed forthcoming paper. We use standard notation, see for instance [1].

An Atypical Case of Taravana Syndrome in a Breath-Hold Underwater Fishing Champion: A Case Report

Dysbaric accidents are usually referred to compressed air-supplied diving. Nonetheless, some cases of decompression illness are known to have occurred among breath-hold (BH) divers also, and they are reported in the medical literature. A male BH diver (57 years old), underwater fishing champion, presented neurological disorders as dizziness, sensory numbness, blurred vision, and left frontoparietal pain after many dives to a 30–35 meters sea water depth with short surface intervals.
