Expert control of DO in the aerobic reactor of an activated sludge process

Abstract An expert control structure is proposed for the control of dissolved oxygen (DO) in a Nitrification Denitrification Biological Excess Phosphorus Removal (NDBEPR) plant to account for the several processes that are influenced by the DO concentration in the aerator. In the scheme a supervisory fuzzy controller determines the set point of an inner DO control loop where an Adaptive Robust Generic Model Control (ARGMC) controller is used. The fuzzy supervisory control has a hierarchical structure. An adaptive control law for robotic manipulator without velocity feedback

2003

In this paper, a new adaptive control law is designed for robotic manipulators, based on the use of reference velocities instead of the actual ones and feedback signals generated from position errors. The law in question is suitable for trajectory tracking and positioning tasks. Its peculiarities are implementation without velocity measurements and estimation, high signal-to-noise ratio in control torques and absence of parameter drift in positioning tasks. Experimental tests are shown with the aim to confirm the validity of the control law and to illustrate its actual effects on the behaviour of the system.

This paper deals with a globally convergent adaptive and robust control of robotic manipulators for trajectory tracking in the presence of friction modelled as static nonlinearities. Two control loops are designed according to the cascade control scheme: (a) an inner adaptive control loop, which includes computed torque and PD control actions and friction compensation and (b) an outer robust control loop for unmodelled dynamics compensation. Control of structural problems in cultural heritage monuments using close-range photogrammetry and computer methods

This paper deals with the conservation of monumental buildings. Several methods used for the architectonic documentation are analysed in this study. Computers methods and close-range photogrammetry are proposed as a preventive method which allows to detect, measure and track the temporal evolution of some structural problems detected, and also to assess the degree of conservation of the materials employed. A group of monuments belonging to the Spanish historical heritage is analysed. In order to carry out the analysis a wire-frame model and a photo-realistic textured model were made. Work focused later on the area where structural problems were more acute.

In order to quantify the incident strains within the skeleton, in vivo implementation of strain gauges on the surfaces of bone is typically used.
