A novel dynamic multi-model relevance feedback procedure for content-based image retrieval

This paper deals with the problem of image retrieval in large databases with a big semantic gap by a relevance feedback procedure. We present a novel algorithm for modelling the users's preferences in the content-based image retrieval system.The proposed algorithm considers the probability of an image belonging to the set of those sought by the user, and estimates the parameters of several local logistic regression models whose inputs are the low-level image features. A Principal Component Analysis method is applied to the original vector to reduce its high dimensionality. Through-space spin-spin coupling in acetylenic systems. Ab initio and DFT calculations

Abstract: We have investigated, by means of ab initio and DFT calculations, the magnitude of through-space spin-spin couplings ( J CH and J HH ) in CH/π bonded van der Waals dimers involving acetylene, and in a structurally related covalent compound (4-ethynylphenanthrene). Within regions where the interaction is stabilizing J HH couplings are very small (< 0.1 Hz) for all complexes. In the acetylene-methane complex J CH is also very small, whereas in the acetylene-benzene complex and the acetylene dimer it shows a relatively large dependence on the tilt angle from the T-shaped arrangement, for which the smallest values are calculated, to a parallel slipped arrangement where J CH is ca. 0.5…

Abstract In recent years, the aircraft industry has shifted its preference for metal parts to titanium and its alloys, such as the high-strength Titanium Grade5 alloy. Because of Titanium Grade 5 limited formability at ambient temperature, forming operations on this material require high temperatures. Frequently, the assessment of the physical condition of a sportsman depends on the evaluation of different tests, based on biomechanical performance. The data acquisition in these tests is usually hand made, because its automatization is difficult. Robust dynamical pattern formation from a multifunctional minimal genetic circuit.

Abstract Background A practical problem during the analysis of natural networks is their complexity, thus the use of synthetic circuits would allow to unveil the natural mechanisms of operation. Autocatalytic gene regulatory networks play an important role in shaping the development of multicellular organisms, whereas oscillatory circuits are used to control gene expression under variable environments such as the light-dark cycle. 400– to 1000–nm imaging spectrometer based on acousto-optic tunable filters

An imaging spectrometer covering the 400-1000 nm band has been conceived and developed. The system is based on an Acousto-Optic Tunable Filter (AOTF) attached to a high performance digital camera. The AOTF permits the selection of spectral bands with an RF signal in the range of 70-210 MHz. The range is covered using two transducers attached to a single crystal. Although the idea is not new it covers a broader spectrum than previous systems. Asynchronously switched control of discrete impulsive switched systems with time delays

This paper is concerned with the stabilization problem for a class of uncertain discrete impulsive switched delay systems under asynchronous switching. The so-called asynchronous switching means that the switches between the candidate controllers and system modes are asynchronous. By using the average dwell time (ADT) approach, sufficient conditions for the existence of an asynchronously switched controller is derived such that the resulting closed-loop system is exponentially stable. The desired controller gains and the admissible switching signals are obtained in terms of a set of matrix inequalities. A numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Stability analysis of logistics networks with time-delays

Logistics network represents a complex system where different elements that are logistic locations interact with each other. This interaction contains delays caused by time needed for delivery of the material. In this paper, we study local input-to-state stability of such logistics networks. Their behaviour is described by a functional differential equation with a constant time-delay.
