The performance of haptic application is highly sensitive to communication delays and losses of data. It implies several constraints in developing networked haptic applications. This paper describes a new internet protocol called Efficient Transport Protocol (ETP), which aims at developing distributed interactive applications. TCP and UDP are transport protocols commonly used in any kind of networked communication, but they are not focused on real time application. An algebraic approach for human posture estimation in the sagittal plane using accelerometer noisy signal

International audience; Our aim is to develop an algebraic approach to estimate human posture in the sagittal plane using Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) providing accelerations and angular velocities. To do it so, we address the issue of the estimation of the amplitude, frequency and phase of a biased and noisy sum of three sinusoidal waveform signals on a moving time horizon. Since the length of the time window is small, the estimation must be done within a fraction of the signal's period. The problem is solved via algebraic techniques (see [38] for the theoretical part concerning this problem). The efficiency of our approach is illustrated by computer simulations.

Scale invariant line matching on the sphere

International audience; This paper proposes a novel approach of line matching across images captured by different types of cameras, from perspective to omnidirectional ones. Based on the spherical mapping, this method utilizes spherical SIFT point features to boost line matching and searches line correspondences using an affine invariant measure of similarity. It permits to unify the commonest cameras and to process heterogeneous images with the least distortion of visual information.

Collision detection for 3D rigid body motion planning with narrow passages

In sampling-based 3D rigid body motion planning one of the major subroutines is collision detection. Especially for problems with narrow passages many samples have to be checked by a collision detection algorithm. In this application, the runtime of the motion planning algorithm is dominated by collision detection and the samples have the very specific characteristic that many of them are in collision and have small penetration volumes. The state of each player evolves according to a linear stochastic differential equation driven by a Brownian motion and under the influence of a control and an adversarial disturbance. Electro-hydraulic compact drives (ECDs) are an emerging technology for linear actuation in a wide range of applications. Especially within the low power range of 5–10 kW, the plug-and-play capability, good energy efficiency and small space requirements of ECDs render this technology a promising alternative to replace conventional valve-controlled linear drive solutions. In this power range, ECDs generally rely on passive cooling to keep oil and system temperatures within the tolerated range.
