Robust H∞ filtering for networked control systems with markovian jumps and packet dropouts

2014

Published version of an article in the journal: Modeling, Identification and Control. Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.4173/mic.2014.3.3 Open Access This paper deals with the H∞ filtering problem for uncertain networked control systems. In the study, network-induced delays, limited communication capacity due to signal quantization and packet dropout are all taken into consideration. The finite distributed delays with probability of occurrence in a random way is introduced in the network. The packet dropout is described by a Bernoulli process. The system is modeled as Markovian jumps system with partially known transition probabilities. A full-order filter is designe…

Analysis of Hyperspectral Images of Citrus Fruits

2010

Publisher Summary Some of the most important aspects that need to be taken into consideration when developing a hyperspectral inspection system for citrus include the geometry of the fruit, the emission spectrum of the lighting source, and their interaction. Because many citrus fruits are almost spherical, each point of their surface reflects the electromagnetic radiation differently toward the camera. This causes a gradual darkening of the image especially the further pixels from the light source, which is a phenomenon that must be artificially corrected. In addition, the variation of the efficiency of the filters with the wavelength should be also taken into consideration to enable the ap…

Quantitative comparison of new image processing methods for volumetric analysis of left ventricular contrast echocardiograms

2003

An effort has been made to develop image processing methods which allow a definite and precise tracking of the borderline of the ventricle in two-dimensional echocardiograms. Experience is reported with two new methods, which are based on the gray-level rise (GL) and the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) in combined heart-phase-triggered image series. A quantitative comparison of these time-series methods is presented with respect to the interpretation of a single native image (noncontrast image), a single contrast-material image, the corresponding subtraction image, and the corresponding color superposition image. The comparison is based on the calculation of the ejection fraction using the abov…

Application independent greedy particle tracking method for 3D fluorescence microscopy image series

2012

Single-particle tracking is computationally a challenging problem, and usually solved with local methods. Local methods suffer from defects in the image data or in the detection of particles, such as temporal disappearing of particles. A particle tracking method has to provide a solution also to real disappearing and appearing of particles as a result of merging and splitting. Here, we present an efficient, greedy algorithm as a solution to the particle tracking problem. This improved local method is application independent, as it has high configurability of the function used to solve particle correspondence. To demonstrate the accuracy of the method, we apply it to real microscopy image da…

Learning the relevant image features with multiple kernels

2009

This paper proposes to learn the relevant features of remote sensing images for automatic spatio-spectral classification with the automatic optimization of multiple kernels. The method consists of building dedicated kernels for different sets of bands, contextual or textural features. The optimal linear combination of kernels is optimized through gradient descent on the support vector machine (SVM) objective function. Since a na¨ive implementation is computationally demanding, we propose an efficient model selection procedure based on kernel alignment. The result is a weight — learned from the data — for each kernel where both relevant and meaningless image features emerge after training. E…

The role of perceptual contrast non-linearities in image transform quantization

2000

Abstract The conventional quantizer design based on average error minimization over a training set does not guarantee a good subjective behavior on individual images even if perceptual metrics are used. In this work a novel criterion for transform coder design is analyzed in depth. Its aim is to bound the perceptual distortion in each individual quantization according to a non-linear model of early human vision. A common comparison framework is presented to describe the qualitative behavior of the optimal quantizers under the proposed criterion and the conventional rate-distortion based criterion. Several underlying metrics, with and without perceptual non-linearities, are used with both cr…

A Database of Spectral Filter Array Images that Combine Visible and NIR

2017

International audience; Spectral filter array emerges as a multispectral imaging technology, which could benefit several applications. Although several instantiations are prototyped and commercialized, there are yet only a few raw data available that could serve research and help to evaluate and design adequate related image processing and algorithms. This document presents a freely available spectral filter array database of images that combine visible and near infra-red information.

Digital Image Processing in the Analysis of Astrometric Plates

1991

AbstractIn this paper, we display an improvement to our process of semi-automatic measuring of astrometric plates, in which the photometric sensor is substituted by a CCD system of image getting and digitalization. The advantages of this method are analyzed taking into account the possibilities of the image analysis in the space and frequency domain.

A Color Image Database for Haze Model and Dehazing Methods Evaluation

2016

International audience; One of the major issues related to dehazing methods (single or multiple image based) evaluation is the absence of the haze-free image (ground-truth). This is also a problem when it concerns the validation of Koschmieder model or its subsequent dehazing methods. To overcome this problem, we created a database called CHIC (Color Hazy Image for Comparison), consisting of two scenes in controlled environment. In addition to the haze-free image, we provide 9 images of different fog densities. Moreover, for each scene, we provide a number of parameters such as local scene depth, distance from the camera of known objects such as Macbeth Color Checkers, their radiance, and t…
