Non-Perturbative Renormalization of Lattice Four-Fermion Operators without Power Subtractions

1999

A general non-perturbative analysis of the renormalization properties of $\Delta I=3/2$ four-fermion operators in the framework of lattice regularization with Wilson fermions is presented. We discuss the non-perturbative determination of the operator renormalization constants in the lattice Regularization Independent (RI or MOM) scheme. We also discuss the determination of the finite lattice subtraction coefficients from Ward Identities. We prove that, at large external virtualities, the determination of the lattice mixing coefficients, obtained using the RI renormalization scheme, is equivalent to that based on Ward Identities, in the continuum and chiral limits. As a feasibility study of …

Dynamics for a 2-vertex Quantum Gravity Model

2010

We use the recently introduced U(N) framework for loop quantum gravity to study the dynamics of spin network states on the simplest class of graphs: two vertices linked with an arbitrary number N of edges. Such graphs represent two regions, in and out, separated by a boundary surface. We study the algebraic structure of the Hilbert space of spin networks from the U(N) perspective. In particular, we describe the algebra of operators acting on that space and discuss their relation to the standard holonomy operator of loop quantum gravity. Furthermore, we show that it is possible to make the restriction to the isotropic/homogeneous sector of the model by imposing the invariance under a global …

On the Leibniz bracket, the Schouten bracket and the Laplacian

2003

International audience; The Leibniz bracket of an operator on a (graded) algebra is defined and some of its properties are studied. A basic theorem relating the Leibniz bracket of the commutator of two operators to the Leibniz bracket of them is obtained. Under some natural conditions, the Leibniz bracket gives rise to a (graded) Lie algebra structure. In particular, those algebras generated by the Leibniz bracket of the divergence and the Laplacian operators on the exterior algebra are considered, and the expression of the Laplacian for the product of two functions is generalized for arbitrary exterior forms.

Bell's inequality violation for entangled generalized Bernoulli states in two spatially separate cavities

2005

We consider the entanglement of orthogonal generalized Bernoulli states in two separate single-mode high-$Q$ cavities. The expectation values and the correlations of the electric field in the cavities are obtained. We then define, in each cavity, a dichotomic operator expressible in terms of the field states which can be, in principle, experimentally measured by a probe atom that ``reads'' the field. Using the quantum correlations of couples of these operators, we construct a Bell's inequality which is shown to be violated for a wide range of the degree of entanglement and which can be tested in a simple way. Thus the cavity fields directly show quantum non-local properties. A scheme is als…

Non-isospectral Hamiltonians, intertwining operators and hidden hermiticity

2011

We have recently proposed a strategy to produce, starting from a given hamiltonian $h_1$ and a certain operator $x$ for which $[h_1,xx^\dagger]=0$ and $x^\dagger x$ is invertible, a second hamiltonian $h_2$ with the same eigenvalues as $h_1$ and whose eigenvectors are related to those of $h_1$ by $x^\dagger$. Here we extend this procedure to build up a second hamiltonian, whose eigenvalues are different from those of $h_1$, and whose eigenvectors are still related as before. This new procedure is also extended to crypto-hermitian hamiltonians.

Nonlocally-induced (fractional) bound states: Shape analysis in the infinite Cauchy well

2015

Fractional (L\'{e}vy-type) operators are known to be spatially nonlocal. This becomes an issue if confronted with a priori imposed exterior Dirichlet boundary data. We address spectral properties of the prototype example of the Cauchy operator $(-\Delta )^{1/2}$ in the interval $D=(-1,1) \subset R$, with a focus on functional shapes of lowest eigenfunctions and their fall-off at the boundaries of $D$. New high accuracy formulas are deduced for approximate eigenfunctions. We analyze how their shape reproduction fidelity is correlated with the evaluation finesse of the corresponding eigenvalues.

A quantum non-Markovian collision model: incoherent swap case

2013

We have recently presented a collision-model-based framework to approach non-Markovian quantum dynamics [Ciccarello F Palma G M and Giovannetti V 2013 Phys. Rev. A 87, 040103(R)]. As a distinctive feature, memory is introduced in a dynamical way by adding extra inter-ancillary collisions to a standard (memoryless) collision model. Here, we focus on the case where such intra-bath collisions are described by incoherent partial swap operations. After briefly reviewing the model, we show how to include temperature as an additional parameter by relaxing the assumption that each bath ancilla is initially in a pure state. We also calculate explicitly the dynamical map entailed by the master equati…

Fast ion swapping for quantum-information processing

2016

We demonstrate a swap gate between laser-cooled ions in a segmented microtrap via fast physical swapping of the ion positions. This operation is used in conjunction with qubit initialization, manipulation, and readout and with other types of shuttling operations such as linear transport and crystal separation and merging. Combining these operations, we perform quantum process tomography of the swap gate, obtaining a mean process fidelity of 99.5(5)%. The swap operation is demonstrated with motional excitations below 0.05(1) quantum for all six collective modes of a two-ion crystal for a process duration of $42\ensuremath{\mu}\mathrm{s}$. Extending these techniques to three ions, we reverse …
