MoMo: enabling hybrid museums

Present-day museums are not mere passive institutions for the preservation of a society's cultural heritage. They have become instead learning environments, research centres and even tourist attractions. A very flexible and efficient computer-aided design CAD tool, specifically suited for advanced comb-line rectangular waveguide filters, is presented in this work. The developed software tool, which makes use of a full-wave analysis technique based on the Boundary Integral-Resonant Mode Expansion method, allows loading the considered comb-line resonators with any number of radially symmetrical partial-height metallic posts. Theoretical study on the decomposition mechanism of bisphenol A polycarbonate induced by the combined effect of humidity and UV irradiation.

Polycarbonate (PC) is a good material for covering and protecting cultural heritage sites because of its durability, mechanical properties, and transparency. When bisphenol A polycarbonate is subjected to weathering conditions this polymer shows several degradation processes depending on the irradiation wavelength, humidity and temperature. In particular, the combined effects of humidity and UV irradiation speed up the PC molecular weight reduction. Showy inflorescences - clusters of flowers - are a common feature of many plants, greatly contributing to their beauty. The large numbers of individual flowers (florets), arranged in space in a systematic manner, make inflorescences a natural target for procedural modeling. Advanced SIMD features on GPUs and Xeon Phis promote efficient long pattern search.A tiled approach to accelerating the Wu-Manber algorithm on GPUs has been proposed.Both the GPU and Xeon Phi yield two orders-of-magnitude speedup over one CPU core.The GPU-based version with tiling runs up to 2.9 × faster than the Xeon Phi version. Global sensitivity analysis in welding simulations -- what are the material data you really need ?

In this paper, the sensitivity analysis methodology is applied to numerical welding simulation in order to rank the importance of input variables on the outputs of the code like distorsions or residual stresses. The numerical welding simulation uses the finite element method, with a thermal computation followed by a mechanical one. Classically, a local sensitivity analysis is performed, hence the validity of the results is limited to the neighbourhood of a nominal point, and cross effects cannot be detected.
