Enseignants, de la vocation au désenchantement
2023
2000
International audience; This presentation and analysis of the results of the second survey of student living and studying conditions made by the "Observatoire de la Vie Etudiante" (OVE) takes, like the preceding one, two complementary approaches. First, an analysis of the responses according to social origin, sex and (mainly) age and of the links between the origin and level of resources and autonomy. Second, a presentation and analysis of the flows of resources and expenditures of the students insisting on the relative weight of different sources of finance and the use the students make of the resources they control.

2015
The followers of the Negritude accustomed us to the confrontation between Africa and Europe through the staging of a character-dreaming of Europe with stereotyped images of France conveyed by the colonial school-who is confronted with the conditions of exile during his stay in Europe and the remoteness of motherland which bears all his aspirations. But for the writers of Migritude, emigration to Europe takes a different turn; it is no longer motivated by a desire for discovery but an escape from the native land which has become repulsive, while Europe is in the eyes of migrants, an attractive place embellished by the stories of immigrants who, have already made the journey. The present rese…
Echoes of childhood : exploring childhood territories in the works of Sylvie Germain
2013
The work of Sylvie Germain is pervaded by numerous mythical and biblical references, which causes the reader to be immersed in a polyphonic process. It appears as a relevant field of study to raise questions related to both origin and family, equally structured by complex lineage bonds, lines of descent and alliances. It can become the stage on which individual and collective dramas are performed; murders are contrived under the appearance of luminous adoptions. The work of Sylvie Germain echoes the world’s disasters and leads the reader to perceive the ebb and flow of genealogy affecting all relatives in a dim or deafening manner. This study explores the situation of violence based on a th…
Implicit learning of non-local musical rules : A comment on Kuhn and Dienes
2009
International audience; In a recent study, G. Kuhn and Z. Dienes (2005) reported that participants previously exposed to a set of musical tunes generated by a biconditional grammar subsequently preferred new tunes that respected the grammar over new ungrammatical tunes. Because the study and test tunes did not share any chunks of adjacent intervals, this result may be construed as straightforward evidence for the implicit learning of a structure that was only governed by nonlocal dependency rules. It is shown here that the grammar modified the statistical distribution of perceptually salient musical events, such as the probability that tunes covered an entire octave. When the influence of t…
