Childhood football play and practice in relation to self-regulation and national team selection; a study of Norwegian elite youth players.

Childhood sport participation is argued to be important to understand differences in self-regulation and performance level in adolescence. This study sought to investigate if football-specific activities in childhood (6–12 years of age) is related to self-regulatory skills and national under 14- and 15-team selection in Norwegian elite youth football. Data of practice histories and self-regulatory skills of 515 youth football players selected at Norwegian regional level were collected and further analysed using multilevel analyses. The 1-Harmonic Flow with Values into $\mathbb S^{1}$

We introduce a notion of solution for the $1$-harmonic flow, i.e., the formal gradient flow of the total variation functional with respect to the $L^2$-distance, from a domain of $\mathbb R^m$ into a geodesically convex subset of an $N$-sphere. For such a notion, under homogeneous Neumann boundary conditions, we prove both existence and uniqueness of solutions when the target space is a semicircle and the existence of solutions when the target space is a circle and the initial datum has no jumps of an “angle” larger than $\pi$. Efficient parallel computations of flows of arbitrary fluids for all regimes of Reynolds, Mach and Grashof numbers

This paper presents a unified numerical method able to address a wide class of fluid flow problems of engineering interest. Arbitrary fluids are treated specifying totally arbitrary equations of state, either in analytical form or through look‐up tables. The most general system of the unsteady Navier–Stokes equations is integrated with a coupled implicit preconditioned method. The method can stand infinite CFL number and shows the efficiency of a quasi‐Newton method independent of the multi‐block partitioning on parallel machines. Local regularity for time-dependent tug-of-war games with varying probabilities

We study local regularity properties of value functions of time-dependent tug-of-war games. For games with constant probabilities we get local Lipschitz continuity. For more general games with probabilities depending on space and time we obtain H\"older and Harnack estimates. The games have a connection to the normalized $p(x,t)$-parabolic equation $(n+p(x,t))u_t=\Delta u+(p(x,t)-2) \Delta_{\infty}^N u$.

Continuous Monitoring of Parasitic Elements in Boost Converter Circuit

The given paper explains the necessity of condition monitoring for DC/DC boost converter circuit. Further, an analytical model of circuit parasitic estimation is presented based on measured quantities in the circuit. The implementation of continuous estimation of circuit parasitic elements is analytically explained and verified by simulations and experimental results. Obtained results are acceptable for condition monitoring.

A multi-domain approach for smoothed particle hydrodynamics simulations of highly complex flows

Abstract An efficient and accurate method is proposed to solve the incompressible flow momentum and continuity equations in computational domains partitioned into subdomains in the framework of the smoothed particle hydrodynamics method. The procedure does not require any overlap of the subdomains, which would result in the increase of the computational effort. Perfectly matching solutions are obtained at the surfaces separating neighboring blocks. The block interfaces can be both planar and curved surfaces allowing to easily decompose even geometrically complex domains. Least-squares community extraction in feature-rich networks using similarity data

We explore a doubly-greedy approach to the issue of community detection in feature-rich networks. According to this approach, both the network and feature data are straightforwardly recovered from the underlying unknown non-overlapping communities, supplied with a center in the feature space and intensity weight(s) over the network each. Our least-squares additive criterion allows us to search for communities one-by-one and to find each community by adding entities one by one.
