How neurophysiological measures can be used to enhance the evaluation of remote tower solutions
2019
New solutions in operational environments are often, among objective measurements, evaluated by using subjective assessment and judgment from experts. Anyhow, it has been demonstrated that subjective measures suffer from poor resolution due to a high intra and inter-operator variability. Also, performance measures, if available, could provide just partial information, since an operator could achieve the same performance but experiencing a different workload. In this study, we aimed to demonstrate: (i) the higher resolution of neurophysiological measures in comparison to subjective ones; and (ii) how the simultaneous employment of neurophysiological measures and behavioral ones could allow a…
Disorder and dephasing effects on electron transport through conjugated molecular wires in molecular junctions
2012
Understanding electron transport processes in molecular wires connected between contacts is a central focus in the field of molecular electronics. Especially, the dephasing effect causing tunneling-to-hopping transition has great importance from both applicational and fundamental points of view. We analyzed coherent and incoherent electron transmission through conjugated molecular wires by means of density-functional tight-binding theory within the D'Amato-Pastawski model. Our approach can study explicitly the structure/transport relationship in molecular junctions in a dephasing environmental condition using only single dephasing parameter. We investigated the length dependence and the inf…
Colossal Density-Driven Resistance Response in the Negative Charge Transfer Insulator MnS2
2021
A reversible density driven insulator to metal to insulator transition in high-spin MnS_{2} is experimentally observed, leading with a colossal electrical resistance drop of 10^{8} Ω by 12 GPa. Density functional theory simulations reveal the metallization to be unexpectedly driven by previously unoccupied S_{2}^{2-} σ_{3p}^{*} antibonding states crossing the Fermi level. This is a unique variant of the charge transfer insulator to metal transition for negative charge transfer insulators having anions with an unsaturated valence. By 36 GPa the emergence of the low-spin insulating arsenopyrite (P2_{1}/c) is confirmed, and the bulk metallicity is broken with the system returning to an insula…
Wide-range thermometer based on the temperature-dependent conductance of planar tunnel junctions
2000
The effect of the Fermi–Dirac distribution on the current through standard planar tunnel junctions is a suitable basis for thermometry in a wide temperature range. In particular, it extends the range spanned by Coulomb-blockade thermometers up to room temperature.
Influence of CO in the structural and electrical properties of Pt nanocontacts: comparison with H2 molecule addition.
2009
Density-functional theory is used to determine the atomic structure and the zero-bias conductance of Pt nanocontacts upon CO addition. Three stable atomic configurations of the nanocontacts, in conjunction with a statistical analysis of their electrical response, are enough to explain the main features of the experimental conductance histograms. Remarkably, the role of nonlocal effects when approaching the exchange-correlation potential within density-functional theory turns out to be crucial for CO molecular-based systems. Finally, a comparison with H(2) molecule addition on Pt nanocontacts is presented.
Effects of music therapy in depression and anxiety disorder
2019
Mental disorders are considerate 'the evil of the century' by renowned researchers, because a large part of the population in many countries is a diagnosticated, and currently affect youth and children. Among the numerous therapeutic interventions, the music therapy is a non-invasive approach. However, there are very few people who are professionally engaged in research and studies on the subject. Therefore, this article is a literature to talk about the benefits of music therapy sessions for people with stress, depression and anxiety disorders.
Instruments to measure interaction of mothers and newborns: A systematic review
2023
Interactions between newborns and their parents/primary caregivers are characterized by asymmetric and dependent relationships. This systematic review mapped, identified, and described the psychometric parameters, categories, and items of instruments used to assess mother-newborn interaction. Seven electronic databases were accessed in this study. Furthermore, this research included neonatal interaction studies describing instruments' items, domains, and psychometric properties while excluding studies that focused on maternal interactions and lacked items for assessing newborns. Additionally, studies validated with older infants that did not have a newborn in the sample were used for test v…
Forma abreviada de la WAIS-IV: estudio piloto en pacientes con esquizofrenia
2017
The aim of this study is to develop a WAIS-IV short form of the Spanish version for its use with schizophrenia patients, which would allow estimating their intellectual capacity in a short period of time (approximately 30 minutes). The sample was composed by a clinical group consisting of 35 schizophrenia patients and a control group consisting of 35 people with no known history of mental illness. Data demonstrated that the best combination of tests was: Similarities (Verbal comprehension), Visual puzzles (Perceptual reasoning), Arithmetic (Working memory) and Coding (Processing speed). With this short form, it was possible to obtain a linear correlation between the IQ of the full scale and…
Evidence of validity and measurement invariance by gender of the Vaccination Attitudes Examination (VAX) scale in Colombian university students
2022
Background: Having a valid tool to assess attitudes toward vaccination and identify the concerns that drive vaccine refusal can facilitate population studies and help guide public health interventions. The objective of this study has been to adapt the Vaccination Attitudes Examination (VAX) scale in Colombian university students and to study its psychometric properties in a non-probabilistic sample of 1074 Colombian university students. Methods: A confirmatory factor analysis was used to study the factorial structure. A structural equation model was tested to study concurrent validity and to check whether the factors predicted having received the coronavirus vaccine. Gender-based measuremen…
