Classification, diagnosis, and approach to treatment for angioedema:consensus report from the Hereditary Angioedema International Working Group

2014

Angioedema is defined as localized and self-limiting edema of the subcutaneous and submucosal tissue, due to a temporary increase in vascular permeability caused by the release of vasoactive mediator(s). When angioedema recurs without significant wheals, the patient should be diagnosed to have angioedema as a distinct disease. In the absence of accepted classification, different types of angioedema are not uniquely identified. For this reason, the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology gave its patronage to a consensus conference aimed at classifying angioedema. Four types of acquired and three types of hereditary angioedema were identified as separate forms from the analysis o…

2022

This update and revision of the international guideline for urticaria was developed following the methods recommended by Cochrane and the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) working group. It is a joint initiative of the Dermatology Section of the European Academy of Allergology and Clinical Immunology (EAACI), the Global Allergy and Asthma European Network (GALEN) and its Urticaria and Angioedema Centers of Reference and Excellence (UCAREs and ACAREs), the European Dermatology Forum (EDF; EuroGuiDerm), and the Asia Pacific Association of Allergy, Asthma and Clinical Immunology with the participation of 64 delegates of 50 national and international soci…

American College of Rheumatology Provisional Criteria for Clinically Relevant Improvement in Children and Adolescents With Childhood-Onset Systemic L…

2019

OBJECTIVE: To develop a Childhood Lupus Improvement Index (CHILI) as a tool to measure response to therapy in childhood-onset systemic lupus erythematosus (cSLE), with a focus on clinically relevant improvement (CRIc SLE ). METHODS: Pediatric nephrology and rheumatology subspecialists (n = 213) experienced in cSLE management were invited to define CRIc SLE and rate a total of 433 unique patient profiles for the presence/absence of CRIc SLE . Patient profiles included the following cSLE core response variables (CRVs): global assessment of patient well-being (patient-global), physician assessment of cSLE activity (MD-global), disease activity index score (here, we used the Systemic Lupus Eryt…

European Society of Hypertension guidelines for blood pressure monitoring at home: a summary report of the second international consensus conference …

2008

This document summarizes the available evidence and provides recommendations on the use of home blood pressure monitoring in clinical practice and in research. It updates the previous recommendations on the same topic issued in year 2000. The main topics addressed include the methodology of home blood pressure monitoring, its diagnostic and therapeutic thresholds, its clinical applications in hypertension, with specific reference to special populations, and its applications in research. The final section deals with the problems related to the implementation of these recommendations in clinical practice. ispartof: Journal of Hypertension vol:26 issue:8 pages:1505-1530 ispartof: location:Neth…

Chronisch thromboembolische pulmonale Hypertonie: Empfehlungen der Kölner Konsensus Konferenz 2016

2016

The 2015 European Guidelines on Pulmonary Hypertension did not cover only pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), but also other significant subgroups of pulmonary hypertension (PH). In June 2016, a Consensus Conference organized by the PH working groups of the German Society of Cardiology (DGK), the German Society of Respiratory Medicine (DGP) and the German Society of Pediatric Cardiology (DGPK) was held in Cologne, Germany to discuss open and controversial issues surrounding the practical implementation of the European Guidelines. Several working groups were initiated, one of which was dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH). In ev…

THU0045 IL-25/IL-17RB AXIS IS ACTIVATED AND ASSOCIATED WITH ILC2 EXPANSION IN GRANULOMATOSIS WITH POLYANGIITIS (GPA)

2019

Background: Pathogenesis of Granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA) is still unknown. However, it has been observed a skewing of circulating CD4+ T cells toward the Th17 and Th2 phenotype. The pro-inflammatory cytokine interleukin 25 (IL-25) is a member of IL-17 cytokine family associated to the Th2 immune phenotype. Through the receptor IL17RB, IL-25 further sustains the Th2-type immune response and elicits the expansion of the type 2 innate lymphoid cells (ILC2) and M2 macrophages. A pathogenic role of the innate lymphoid cells in GPA has been recently demonstrated; however, the relevance of IL-25 in this condition remains unexplored. Objectives: Aim of the study was to evaluate the expres…
