The eigen-structure of the Jacobian in multi-class Lighthill-Whitham-Richards traffic flow models

2007

Characteristic-based High Resolution Shock Capturing schemes for hyperbolic systems of conservation laws require, in their basic design structure, knowledge on the complete eigen-decomposition of the Jacobian matrix of the system. For the Multi-Class Lighthill-Witham-Richards (MCLWR) Traffic flow model considered in [4], there is no explicit formula for the eigenvalues of the Jacobian matrix, which can only be determined numerically. However, once they are determined, the eigen-vectors are easily computed and straightforward formulas can be obtained by exploiting the specific structure of the Jacobian matrix in these models. Color study of historic silks

2022

The chemical characterization of silk textiles of historic value may be necessary to achieve a better understanding of the production processes applied, to evaluate their preservation, to detect manipulations or forgeries, and to value the combination of tradition and innovation in contemporary manufacturing techniques. The main objective of this work was to study four historical silks from the Garín collection, all of them from the 20th century, although with 19th century designs. To this end, non-invasive spectroscopic and microscopy techniques were applied in order to obtain information on the dyes used during their production and their link with those used in the silk industry in previo…

Asymmetric allelic introgression across a hybrid zone of the coal tit (Periparus ater) in the central Himalayas*

2021

Abstract In the Himalayas, a number of secondary contact zones have been described for vicariant vertebrate taxa. However, analyses of genetic divergence and admixture are missing for most of these examples. In this study, we provide a population genetic analysis for the coal tit (Periparus ater) hybrid zone in Nepal. Intermediate phenotypes between the distinctive western “spot‐winged tit” (P. a. melanolophus) and Eastern Himalayan coal tits (P. a. aemodius) occur across a narrow range of <100 km in western Nepal. As a peculiarity, another distinctive cinnamon‐bellied form is known from a single population so far. Genetic admixture of western and eastern mitochondrial lineages was restrict…

An updated checklist of chondrichthyans of Calabria (Central Mediterranean, southern Italy), with emphasis on rare species

2020

In this contribution the checklist of chondrichthyans of Calabria (Central Mediterranean, southern Italy) is reported. Data presented is derived from twenty years of opportunistic and active surveys from 2000 to 2020. A total of 55 species of chondrichthyans is present in Calabrian seas: 33 sharks, 20 rays, and 2 chimaeras. These species represent approximately 62% of the total reported for the Mediterranean. Approximately 71% of Calabrian species have been reported in the Tyrrhenian Sea, 49% in the Ionian Sea, and 33% in the Strait of Messina. According to IUCN criteria, new records of Endangered and Critically Endangered species (i.e., Carcahrodon carcharias [Linnaeus, 1758], Lamna nasus …

Documentación 3D de abrigos rupestres a partir de láser escáner y de procesos fotogramétricos automatizados

2013

[EN] Metric and graphic documentation of archaeological cultural heritage requires effective solutions for archiving, visualization, analysis, management, and monitoring of different monuments and sites. This paper presents the geomatic workflow undertaken on a singular rock art site, Coves de la Saltadora. The cave is part of the Rock Art of the Mediterranean Basin on the Iberian Peninsula declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO in1998. The different steps are reviewed, starting from the data acquisition until the final delivery of part of the metric outputs such as 3D models, photorealistic models, orthophoto mosaics in two levels, general and detail.

Reaction of 3-Amino-1,2,4-Triazole with Diethyl Phosphite and Triethyl Orthoformate: Acid-Base Properties and Antiosteoporotic Activities of the Prod…

2017

The reaction of diethyl phosphite with triethyl orthoformate and a primary amine followed by hydrolysis is presented, and the reaction was suitable for the preparation of (aminomethylene)bisphosphonates. 3-Amino-1,2,4-triazole was chosen as an interesting substrate for this reaction because it possesses multiple groups that can serve as the amino component in the reaction-namely, the side-chain and triazole amines. This substrate readily forms 1,2,4-triazolyl-3-yl-aminomethylenebisphosphonic acid (compound 1) as a major product, along with N-ethylated bisphosphonates as side products. The in vitro antiproliferative effects of the synthesized aminomethylenebisphosphonic acids against J774E m…

Neighbourhoods in Bucarest: recognition, conservation and inheritage

2012

Effects of zoledronic acid and dexamethasone on early phases of socket healing after tooth extraction in rats : a preliminary macroscopic and microsc…

2018

Background The exact pathogenesis of medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw (MRONJ) is still unknown. The aim of this paper was to investigate the effects of zoledronic acid and dexamethasone on the early phases of socket healing in rats subjected to tooth extractions. Material and Methods Thirty male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into 2 groups: pharmacologically treated group (T, n=20) and non-pharmacologically treated group (C, n=10). T group rats received 0.1 mg/Kg of zoledronic acid (ZOL) and 1 mg/Kg of dexamethasone (DEX) three times a week for 10 consecutive weeks. C group rats were infused with vehicle. After 9 weeks from the first infusion, first maxillary molars were extrac…

A new algorithm for a robust solution of the fully dynamic Saint-Venant equations

2003

A new procedure for the numerical solution of the fully dynamic shallow water equations is presented. The procedure is a fractional step methodology where the original system is split into two sequential ones. The first system differs from the original one because of the head gradient term, that is treated as constant and equal to the value computed at the end of the previous time step. The solution of this system, called kinematic, is computed in each element using a spatial zero order approximation for both the heads and the flow rates by means of integration of single ODEs. The second system is called diffusive, contains in the momentum equations only the complementary terms and can be e…
