The Nation-State Relation in the Constitution of the Republic of Poland

2020

2018

The origins of the Italian Public Administration date back to a time prior to the political birth of Italy. Its history follows an itinerary based on gradual modifications in correspondence with economic, social, political and cultural changes. Between the 19th and the 20th Century, the Italian Public Administration played several roles. Going from being a political instrument to a means of social intervention and/or a vehicle of economic direction, the Italian Public Administration drew its own structures and modified its own roles, according with the constitutional development that leaded Italy from the liberal State to the fascist State. But there was also a technical continuity, which p…

Ten-year assessment of a cancer fast-track programme to connect primary care with oncology: reducing time from initial symptoms to diagnosis and trea…

2021

Background Cancer is the second leading cause of mortality worldwide. Integrating different levels of care by implementing screening programmes, extending diagnostic tools and applying therapeutic advances may increase survival. We implemented a cancer fast-track programme (CFP) to shorten the time between suspected cancer symptoms, diagnosis and therapy initiation. Patients and methods Descriptive data were collected from the 10 years since the CFP was implemented (2009-2019) at the Clinico-Malvarrosa Health Department in Valencia, Spain. General practitioners (GPs), an oncology coordinator and 11 specialists designed guidelines for GP patient referral to the CFP, including criteria for br…

No evidence of beneficial effects of plasmapheresis in natalizumab-associated PML

2017

Objective:To examine retrospectively the effects of plasmapheresis (PLEX) on the survival and clinical outcomes of patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) and natalizumab (NTZ)–associated progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML).Methods:The medical literature was searched for the terms natalizumab and progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy. A total of 193 international and 34 Italian NTZ-PML cases were included. Clinical outcome was determined by comparing the patients' clinical status at PML diagnosis with status after PML resolution. The effects on survival and clinical outcome of PLEX, sex, age, country, pre-PML Expanded Disability Status Scale score, NTZ infusion number, prior…

Isolated Nodal TBC Reactivation in a Patient with Post-Thrombocythemia Myelofibrosis Treated with Ruxolitinib: Case Report and Review of the Literatu…

2021

Ruxolitinib side effects include the most frequent hematological toxicity along with a more recently evidenced immunosuppressive activity, interfering both with the innate and adaptive immunity, and several cases of reactivation of latent infections by opportunistic agents in patients in treatment with ruxolitinib have been published in the last years. Several pathophysiological mechanisms may explain an association between ruxolitinib and opportunistic infections. From what we know, the only case of an isolated lymph node TBC reactivation in a ruxolitinib-treated myelofibrosis (MF) patient was reported by Patil et al. in 2016 [Int J Med Sci Public Health. 2017;6(3):1]. Other 10 cases descr…

Impact of Pre-Transplant Ruxolitinib in Myelofibrosis Patients on Outcome after Allogeneic Stem Cell Transplantation

2016

Abstract Introduction Ruxolitinib is the first approved drug for treatment of myelofibrosis. Major effects are reduction in spleen size and improvement of constitutional symptoms. Because spleen size and constitutional symptoms may influence outcome after allogeneic stem cell transplantation (ASCT), ruxolitinib is recommended before stem cell transplantation in order to reduce therapy-related morbidity and mortality and improve outcome (EBMT/ELN recommendation, Leukemia 2015) The aim of this retrospective study was to evaluate the impact of pretreatment with ruxolitinib in comparison to transplantation of ruxolitinib-naïve MF patients with regard to outcome after ASCT. Patients and methods …

The taint of torture and the brazilian legal system

2019

In Brazil, the practice of torture intertwines deeply with its own history. The literature on the subject has had a greater intensification on its registers during the Dictatorial Regime (1964 to 1985). In spite of the Brazilian Constitution of 1988, Brazil only makes efforts to investigate the crimes of torture of this period to comply with the provisions of the United Nations in 2011. Within this scenario, the NationalTruth Commission (Law 12.528, of November 2011) was created with the purpose of clarifying the facts and circumstances of cases concerning human rights violations, as well as the Law on Access to Information (Law 12.527 of November 2011), which have regulated the constitutio…

La mancata emanazione nell’Italia repubblicana di una legge “organica” sulla libertà religiosa (il confronto col caso spagnolo)

2016

A missed target of the Republican Italy is the adoption of an "organic" law on religious freedom. A lack determined in spite of the presence of intemal and extemal stimuli ( of cultural, poli ti cal and legal nature) that might have led to a different outcome: among the first, in particular, the chance to mark a discontinuity with the previous regime and to replace the "general" Legge sui Cu/ti ammessi (1929), conflicting with the Charta of 1948 on multiple fronts; regarding the latter, the suggestions (more or less compelling) occurred over time from Spain and Portugal, Countries with an history of relations between law, politics and religion in many respects parallel to the Italian one.
