Discontinuity as defocusing. A cognitive interpretation of the so-called discontinuous reciprocal constructions

I intend to analyze a peculiar kind of reciprocal construction, in which the natural symmetry of the complex event is split due both to the defocusing of one participant (O), coded as a comitative, and the foregrounding of the other one (A), coded as a subject controlling the agreement with the verb. This construction (“discontinuous reciprocal construction”, Dimitriadis 2004), involves a “natural reciprocity” (Kemmer 1993) or “mutual configuration” (Haspelmath 2007) of the event (kissing, marring, meeting). A key question in aquatic elemental cycling is related to the influence of bottom water oxygen conditions in regulating the burial and release of carbon under climate warming. In this study, we used head capsules of Chironomidae larvae to assess community and diversity change between the past (estimated as Pre-Industrial Period) and present and to reconstruct changes in hypolimnetic oxygen conditions from 30 subarctic ecotonal lakes (northeastern Lapland) using the top-bottom paleolimnological approach applying surface sediment (topmost 0-2 cm) and reference (4-5 cm) samples. Progressive and predicative constructions with gerund in Romance. A contrastive analysis

Progressive and predicative constructions formed with gerund are present in numerous Romance languages. In the literature, these two types of construction have often been considered as syntactically analogous. Through the application of syntactic tests, this study will show that, despite a number of similarities, progressive and predicative constructs with gerund are characterized by a different structure.

Wooden, gypsum and cork floor in the Sicilian construction tradition

This presentation deals with a part of a wider and more complex outline of the Sicilian construction tradition characterised by the presence of gypsum technologies. Gypsum is a very common material used in the island for the realisation of all building elements; its use is commonly spread throughout Sicily thanks to several and wide superficial out crops located in some parts of the island that make this material very easy to find. This presentation is particularly focused on wooden and gypsum floors found and analysed during searches and surveys in the regional area. Outline on criteria for some consistent and appropriate consolidation and restoration interventions are here proposed.
The use of gerunds and infinitives in perceptive constructions

In this article I compare the use of gerunds with perceptive verbs in Spanish and in Gardenese, a Rhaeto-Romance variety spoken in Northern Italy: perceptive gerunds are used as secondary predicates in Spanish, but as defective TP-complements in Gardenese. Following Rizzi’s (2014) account of parametric variation, I propose that the differences are due to the interplay of three parameters: a [+progressive] feature on Gardenese perception verbs, the pure lexical status of perception verbs in Gardenese and a [+Agreement] feature on Spanish gerunds. Grammaire et méthodes de fle : enquêtes sur les constructions infinitives de perception

Through our observations of classroom practices, as didacticians and linguists, we notę that infinitive constructions govemed by a verb of perception (1CP) are only extremely rarely included in French as a Foreign Language teaching programmes. Yet, the perception of reality through the senses is one of the sociolinguistic objectives. In this case, unless we are inattentive, this is a notable gap in didactics that should be filled. We would propose to elucidate the specificities of the French ICP from a semantic-logical and cognitive perspectives.

A project named ”Virtual Museum Net of Magna Graecia” is presented, whose objective is to provide an unitary image of the archaeological heritage of Calabria (a Southern Italian region), through Computer Technology, Multimedia Designing and Virtual Reconstructions. The project aims to encourage the technological transfer of the most advanced researches in the exploitation and conservation sector of the Cultural Heritage. The ”Virtual Museum Net of Magna Graecia” project is included in the context of Knowledge Media Design for Museums. This project links the museum scenery and multimedia, in order to use technology as system of representation.

L'oggetto di studio è lo scomparso Rione Conceria all'interno del Centro Storico di Palermo. È una vasta area urbana, che si estende lungo la Via Maqueda, Via Roma, Corso Vittorio Emanuele e Via Bandiera, che storicamente faceva parte di un unico sistema urbano che cuciva il mercato del Capo con il Mercato della Vucciria. Le operazioni urbanistiche del secolo scorso (il taglio di via Roma, il il progetto di riorganizzazione dell'intero rione, la costruzione della Galleria delle Vittorie) hanno cancellato quasi definitivamente sia le sue presenza architettoniche che l'impianto del suo tessuto viario.
