The assessment of parenting in the child welfare practice
1999
Abstract This study analyzed how parenting and factors considered as important determinants of parental care are assessed in the child welfare practice during the placement process, using ethnographic content analysis of case records. The assessment of parenting and the factors affecting it was unsystematic and unplanned with no consistency between cases. The documentary mentions concerning the quality of parent-child relationships were surprisingly rare. The descriptions concentrated more on parents' problems than problems in parenting and the qualities of the parent-child relationship. This study indicated that apart from the need for systematized assessment methods in Finnish child welfa…
Effects of Corporate Social Responsibility perception on consumer satisfaction with the brand
2016
Abstract Using two different studies we assess under what conditions Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) affects consumer satisfaction. In the first study, based on the American Customer Satisfaction Index, and a content analysis of CSR initiatives reported by 65 US companies, findings show a positive direct relationship between CSR and customer satisfaction with CSR training and environmental initiatives, but a negative direct relationship between CSR corporate communication initiatives and customer satisfaction. The second study, through an empirical study based on an online survey of consumers, points to a positive relationship between CSR and customer satisfaction. Our findings sugges…

There is an ongoing debate in the literature to understand whether qualitative or quantitative content analysis methodologies are more effective and useful to analyse disclosure practices. Some authors contend that qualitative methodologies may be more appropriate because…

Cambios de Identidad asociados a la vivencia de una transición ritualizada: aprobar una oposición
2008
This qualitative research study depicts the main categories obtained by means of an inductive methodology based on the content analysis of 8 interviews using the N’Vivo program. The sample consisted of 8 men (between 26 and 45 years) who had passed a competitive examination. We take into consideration whether this life event and its related transition is an example of a contemporary rite of passage. We focus on changes reported by the subjects once the developmental transition was over. These changes are related to new social identities. The most relevant psychological and structural processes in order to get this kind of optimal changes are also discussed.
