Ecology Approach in Education and Health Care
2017
Abstract In the 21st century, numerous complex challenges in education and health care have come to the fore, among them: 1) how to implement the ecological approach in the education process and health care practice; 2) how to implement study programmes in line with the education trends for sustainable development and the process of formation and development of the ecological competence. The results of this research refer only to the content analysis of the essays written by the first and second year students of the programs in Nursing and Medicine on completing the study course The Ecological Approach in Patient Care. To increase the credibility and validity of the obtained results of the …

The formulation of the synthetic theory represented a significant-advance for evolutionary studies, which had previously been hampered by apparently irreconcilable contractions. Combining Mendelian laws with Darwinism, it joined the antitheses in a synthesis which was subsequently refined and completed. Today, its content may not be simply rejected or ignored, although there are those who think of it as little more than a corpse.
Complete genome sequence of the methanogenic neotype strain Methanobacterium formicicum MF(T.).
2014
The neotype strain Methanobacterium formicicum MFT (DSM1535), a hydrogenotrophic methanogenic Archaeon, was isolated from a domestic sewage sludge digestor in Urbana (IL, USA). Here, the complete genome sequence of the methanogen is reported. The genome is 2,478,074 bp in size, featuring a GC content of 41.23%. M. formicicum MFT encodes several genes predicted to be involved in adaptation to abiotic stress such as high osmolarity. The strain MFT is of biotechnological importance since M. formicicum strains are often found in production-scale biogas plants and it is suggested as a starter culture for the anaerobic biomethanation process. Implementing structured document production to support enterprise content management
2017
Within enterprise content management (ECM), the major goal is to develop and deploy systematic solutions for managing documents and other content items. ECM implementation concerns the development and deployment of new content management solutions and practices in an organization. Extensible Markup Language (XML) offers a standardized format for documents supporting the management and preservation of documents as structured documents. However, the deployment of XML may require a demanding standardization process, changes in work practices, and new tools for document management. Consequently, this research explores the implementation of structured document production environments. The focus …
A Repository for Multirelational Dynamic Networks
2012
Nowadays, WWW contains a number of social media sites, which are growing rapidly. One of the main features of social media sites is to allow to its users creation and modification of contents of the site utilizing the offered WWW interfaces. Such contents are referred to as user generated contents and their type varies from site to site. Social media sites can be modeled as constantly evolving multirelational directed graphs. In this paper we discuss persistent data structures for such graphs, and present and analyze queries performed against the structures. We also estimate the space requirements of the proposed data structures, and compare them with the naive "store each complete snapshot…
Role of Acquisition Intervals in Private and Public Cloud Storage Costs
2014
The volume of worldwide digital content has increased nine-fold within the last five years, and this immense growth is predicted to continue in the foreseeable future to reach 8 ZB by 2015. Traditionally, organizations proactively have built and managed their private storage facilities to cope with the growing demand for storage capacity. Recently, many organizations have instead welcomed the alternative of outsourcing their storage needs to the providers of public cloud storage services due to the proliferation of public cloud infrastructure offerings. The comparative cost-efficiency of these two alternatives depends on a number of factors, such as the prices of the public and private stor…
Cross-Domain Recommendations with Overlapping Items
2016
In recent years, there has been an increasing interest in cross-domain recommender systems. However, most existing works focus on the situation when only users or users and items overlap in different domains. In this paper, we investigate whether the source domain can boost the recommendation performance in the target domain when only items overlap. Due to the lack of publicly available datasets, we collect a dataset from two domains related to music, involving both the users’ rating scores and the description of the items. We then conduct experiments using collaborative filtering and content-based filtering approaches for validation purpose. According to our experimental results, the sourc…
Guidelines for improving the contextual relevance of field surveys: the case of information security policy violations
2014
The information systems (IS) field continues to debate the relative importance of rigor and relevance in its research. While the pursuit of rigor in research is important, we argue that further effort is needed to improve practical relevance, not only in terms of topics, but also by ensuring contextual relevance. While content validity is often performed rigorously, validated survey instruments may still lack contextual relevance and be out of touch with practice. We argue that IS behavioral research can improve its practical relevance without loss of rigor by carefully addressing a number of contextual issues in instrumentation design. In this opinion article, we outline five guidelines – …
Sensory modalities and mental content in product experience
2015
Contemporary research in human-technology interaction emphasises the need to focus on what people experience when they interact with technological artefacts. Understanding how people experience products requires detailed investigation of how physical design properties are mentally represented, and the theorisation of how people represent information obtained through different modalities still needs work. The objective of this study is to investigate how people experience modality-related affective aspects of products, using the psychological concept of mental content. For this purpose, we adopt the framework of user psychology, which is the sub-area of psychology involved with investigating…
Context-aware data caching for 5G heterogeneous small cells networks
2016
In this work, we investigate the problem of context-aware data caching in the heterogeneous small cell networks (HSCNs) to provide satisfactory to the end-users in reducing the service latency. In particular, we explore the storage capability of base stations (BSs) in HSCNs and propose a data caching model consists of edge caching elements (CAEs), small cell base stations (SBSs), and macro cell BS (MBS). Then, we concentrate on how to efficiently match the data contents to the different cache entities in order to minimize the overall system service latency. We model it as a distributed college admission (CA) stable matching problem and tackle this issue by utilizing contextual information t…
