The effects of personality, risk and other-regarding attitudes on trust and reciprocity

Abstract This paper reports experimental results on the determinants of trust and reciprocity in the context of a genuinely sequential, binary Trust Game. Apart from behavior in the main experiment, subjects’ risk attitudes and inequality aversion are elicited, as well as the traits of neuroticism and agreeableness, captured through the five-factor model. The findings suggest that trustors’ (first movers) behavior is affected by their loss aversion, while trustees’ (second movers) reciprocal behavior is not explained by any of their other-regarding attitudes, but, rather, by their agreeableness.
Personal goals and personality traits among young adults: Genetic and environmental effects

To assess genetic and environmental contributions to personal goals, 1279 twins aged 20-26 filled in Personal Project Analysis and NEO-FFI inventories. Personal goals relating to education, the respondent's own family, friends, property, travel and self showed primarily genetic and unique environmental effects, whereas goals related to parents and relatives showed both shared and unique environmental effects. The variation in goals related to health, work, hobbies and life philosophy was attributable to non-shared environmental effects. The diamond partial order for strong Rickart rings

The diamond partial order has been first introduced for matrices, and then discussed also in the general context of *-regular rings. We extend this notion to Rickart rings, and state various properties of the diamond order living on the so-called strong Rickart rings. In particular, it is compared with the weak space preorder and the star order; also existence of certain meets and joins under diamond order is discussed.

In the acquisition and formalization of mathematical concepts, the transition between algebraic and geometric representations and the use of different modes of representation contextualizes abstract algebra. Regrettably, the role of geometry is often limited to the visualization of algebraic facts and figurative memory aids. The regular language (a+b)*a (the words in alphabet {a, b} having a as the last letter) is at the moment a classical example of a language not recognizable by a one-way quantum finite automaton (QFA).
