Internet Related Technologies in the auditing profession: A WOS bibliometric review of the past three decades and conceptual structure mapping

2022

Research on Internet-Related Technologies in the auditing profession has grown substantially over the past three decades; however, it is very fragmented. This study seeks to synthesize and provide a comprehensive overview of the literature. Using bibliometric techniques and content analysis, this study provides an exhaustive overview of the research on Internet-Related Technologies in the auditing profession. The study utilized bibliography from the Web of Science database spanning for three decades from 1990 to 2019. A total of 236 academic documents, written by 478 authors from 102 sources was retrieved and used for the analysis. HistCite and Biblioshiny in R were used to run the citation…

Norm or numerical radius attaining polynomials on C(K)

2004

Abstract Let C(K, C ) be the Banach space of all complex-valued continuous functions on a compact Hausdorff space K. We study when the following statement holds: every norm attaining n-homogeneous complex polynomial on C(K, C ) attains its norm at extreme points. We prove that this property is true whenever K is a compact Hausdorff space of dimension less than or equal to one. In the case of a compact metric space a characterization is obtained. As a consequence we show that, for a scattered compact Hausdorff space K, every continuous n-homogeneous complex polynomial on C(K, C ) can be approximated by norm attaining ones at extreme points and also that the set of all extreme points of the u…

Modes of motion in a confined colloidal suspension under shear

2004

We investigated aqueous suspensions of charged polystyrene latex spheres at low salt concentration under the combined influence of steady shear and confining walls. Their equilibrium structure was adjusted via the particle and salt concentration to be either fluid or body centred cubic. Using high-resolution real-space microscopy, we here present a first direct observation of collective modes of motion under shear. As a function of either shear rate and/or salt concentration, we find a continuous transition from registered to free sliding of layers accompanied by an equally continuous structural rearrangement lowering the dimensionality of long-ranged order.

Original Supercritical Water Device for Continuous Production of Nanopowders

2011

Well-crystallized ZnO, ZrO2, TiO2, CeO2, Y2O3 and La2O3 nanoparticles are synthesized under supercritical water conditions (T > 647 K and P > 22.1 MPa) using a home-made continuous process. At room temperature, metallic salts with or without aqueous hydroxide solution (KOH or NaOH) are pressurized to 25–30 MPa. Then, the reactant(s) is/are rapidly heated to 673–773 K by mixing with the supercritical water in a patented reactor. Residence time is in the range from 2 to 8 s. XRD, TEM and surface area analyses highlight the production of pure and well-crystallized nanoparticles with a uniform size distribution.

Modeling Chickenpox Dynamics with a Discrete Time Bayesian Stochastic Compartmental Model

2018

[EN] We present a Bayesian stochastic susceptible-exposed-infectious-recovered model in discrete time to understand chickenpox transmission in the Valencian Community, Spain. During the last decades, different strategies have been introduced in the routine immunization program in order to reduce the impact of this disease, which remains a public health's great concern. Under this scenario, a model capable of explaining closely the dynamics of chickenpox under the different vaccination strategies is of utter importance to assess their effectiveness. The proposed model takes into account both heterogeneous mixing of individuals in the population and the inherent stochasticity in the transmiss…

Artificial Neural Networks to correlate Hot Deformation Cooling Rate and Deformation Temperature on Continuous Cooling Transformation of 22MnB5 Steel

2016

The 22MnB5 steel is a hot stamping steel developed with the aim to satisfy the increasing request of the automotive industries to apply materials able to guarantee higher passive safety and weight reduction. The hot stamping process is an innovative forming technique in which the deformations are carried out at elevated temperature and allows to achieve high strength components. The experimental characterization of the material response, at different values of the main variables of process, may result both expensive and time consuming, but the mutual effects evaluation of the deformation parameters and the phase transformations are necessary to produce components within the desired properti…

All-sky search for continuous gravitational waves from isolated neutron stars using Advanced LIGO O2 data

2019

We present results of an all-sky search for continuous gravitational waves (CWs), which can be produced by fast-spinning neutron stars with an asymmetry around their rotation axis, using data from the second observing run of the Advanced LIGO detectors. We employ three different semi-coherent methods ($\textit{FrequencyHough}$, $\textit{SkyHough}$, and $\textit{Time-Domain $\mathcal{F}$-statistic}$) to search in a gravitational-wave frequency band from 20 to 1922 Hz and a first frequency derivative from $-1\times10^{-8}$ to $2\times10^{-9}$ Hz/s. None of these searches has found clear evidence for a CW signal, so we present upper limits on the gravitational-wave strain amplitude $h_0$ (the …

Study of the use of methanol-filled Er-doped suspended-core fibres in a temperature-sensing ring laser system

2013

We report on an experimental/numerical investigation into the use of methanol-filled Er-doped suspended-core fibres (SCFs) in temperature-sensing ring laser systems. We have adopted a ring laser configuration that includes an Er-doped SCF as a temperature-dependent attenuator (TDA) with a step-index Er-doped fibre (EDF) as the laser active medium. The laser performance dependence on the temperature was measured both in continuous wave (CW) and transient regimes. CW laser output power and build-up time values are compared with those of similar laser systems based on other types of Er-doped PCFs or using other laser configurations. A notable variation of 0.73% °C−1 was achieved in CW operatio…

Effect of Plastic hot deformation on the hardness and continuous cooling transformations of 22MnB5 micro-alloyed boron steel

2009

The strains, transformation temperatures, microstructure, and microhardness of a microalloyed boron and aluminum precoated steel, which has been isothermally deformed under uniaxial tensile tests, have been investigated at temperatures between 873 and 1223 K, using a fixed strain rate value of 0.08 s−1. The effect of each factor, such as temperature and strain value, has been later valued considering the shift generated on the continuous cooling transformation (CCT) diagram. The experimental results consist of the starting temperatures that occur for each transformation, the microhardness values, and the obtained microstructure at the end of each thermomechanical treatment. All the thermome…

Sleep Apnea, Sleepiness, and Driving Risk

2019

Obstructive sleep apnea is associated with excessive daytime sleepiness in about 50% of cases, and with increased risk of driving accidents. Treatment with continuous positive airway pressure effectively decreases such risk, but compliance with continuous positive airway pressure treatment is often suboptimal. According to the European Union Directive on driving risk, retention of a driving license in patients with obstructive sleep apnea requires assessment of sleepiness and adherence to continuous positive airway pressure treatment, but there remains uncertainty on the optimal methods to assess sleepiness on a large scale.
