On the Interconnections of HV–MV Stations to Global Grounding Systems

The interconnection of grounding systems of HV-MV stations via the armors of medium voltage cables, is herein analyzed to verify the effects on touch voltages in ground-fault conditions. The major contributions of this paper are two: the analysis of the impact of an HV ground-fault on a global grounding system (GGS), and the analysis of the parameters that may affect safety due to the interconnection between HV-MV stations and the GGS. The authors have analyzed cases when the connection of an HV-MV station to a GGS improves safety, and then may introduce hazards under ground-fault conditions. High Precision Conservative Surface Mesh Generation for Swept Volumes

We present a novel, efficient, and flexible scheme to generate a high-quality mesh that approximates the outer boundary of a swept volume. Our approach comes with two guarantees. First, the approximation is conservative, i.e., the swept volume is enclosed by the generated mesh. Second, the one-sided Hausdorff distance of the generated mesh to the swept volume is upper bounded by a user defined tolerance. Exploiting this tolerance the algorithm generates a mesh that is adapted to the local complexity of the swept volume boundary, keeping the overall output complexity remarkably low. A Synchronous Reference Frame Robust Predictive Current Control for Three-Phase Grid-Connected Inverters

This paper presents a new predictive current control for three-phase grid-connected inverters in the synchronous reference frame. The control combines a deadbeat control law with a diagonal Luenberger observer to estimate the future value of the grid currents. It provides a decoupled control of the active and reactive power and offers robustness against the computational delay inherent in the digital implementation and against filter and grid-impedance uncertainties. This control exhibits a very fast current response while widely improving the gain and phase margins of the traditional predictive controllers.

The gap between informal functional specifications and the resulting implementation in the chosen programming language is notably a source of errors in embedded systems design. In this paper, we discuss a methodology and a software platform aimed at coping with this issue in programming resource-constrained wireless sensor network nodes (WSNs). Fault detection for continuous-time switched systems under asynchronous switching

In this chapter, the problem of FD for continuous-time switched systems under asynchronous switching is investigated. The designed FD filter is assumed to be asynchronous with the original systems. Attention is focused on designing a FD filter such that the estimation error between the residual and the fault is minimized in the sense of H ∞ norm. By employing piecewise Lyapunov function and ADT techniques, a sufficient condition for the existence of such a filter is exploited in terms of certain LMIs. Finally, an example is provided to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Traditional kernel classifiers assume independence among the classification outputs. As a consequence, each misclassification receives the same weight in the loss function. Moreover, the kernel function only takes into account the similarity between input values and ignores possible relationships between the classes to be predicted. These assumptions are not consistent for most of real-life problems. In the particular case of remote sensing data, this is not a good assumption either.
