This paper focuses on the convergence of information in distributed systems of agents communicating over a network. The information on which the convergence is sought is not rep- resented by real numbers, as often in the literature, rather by sets. The dynamics of the evolution of information across the net- work is accordingly described by set-valued iterative maps. While the study of convergence of set-valued iterative maps is highly complex in general, this paper focuses on Boolean maps, which are comprised of arbitrary combinations of unions, intersections, and complements of sets. A method and mathematical models of direct and inverse problems of ultrasonic testing and diagnostics of complex metal structures for defects were developed and tested. A prototype of a system for magnetostrictive control of elements of the objects under study was manufactured and experimentally tested. Mathematical simulation of ultrasonic testing processes using MATLAB and the COMSOL Multiphysics software environment was carried out. The adequacy of the mathematical models was verified by the results of their comparison with real physical experiments. Learning-based multiresolution transforms with application to image compression

In Harten's framework, multiresolution transforms are defined by predicting finer resolution levels of information from coarser ones using an operator, called prediction operator, and defining details (or wavelet coefficients) that are the difference between the exact and predicted values. In this paper we use tools of statistical learning in order to design a more accurate prediction operator in this framework based on a training sample, resulting in multiresolution decompositions with enhanced sparsity. Abstract A distance transform of a binary image is an array each of whose elements gives the distance from the corresponding pixel to the closest ‘1’ in the binary image. Distance transforms have uses in image matching and shape analysis, among other applications. We present a parallel algorithm for weighted distance transforms that runs particularly efficiently on hierarchical cellular-logic machines, a subclass of the architectures known as pyramid machines. The algorithm computes the 3–4 distance transform; however it can be readily adapted to the city-block (‘Manhattan’) and chessboard distance measures. Detection and isolation of single and mixed faults in a gearbox are very important to enhance the system reliability, lifetime, and service availability. This paper proposes a hybrid learning algorithm, consisting of multilayer perceptron (MLP)- and convolutional neural network (CNN)-based classifiers, for diagnosis of gearbox mixed faults. In this article, a novel multilevel topology for three-phase applications, having three-level and hybrid N -level modular configurations, enabling low-, medium-, and high-voltage operations, is presented. This paper presents an overview and experimental analysis of the MC SPWM techniques for single-phase cascaded H-bridge inverter. The multilevel power converters are an alternative to traditional converters known as “three-level converters”. The voltage waveforms and the related frequency spectra, which have been obtained by simulation analysis in Matlab-Simulink environment, are here reported for all the proposed modulation techniques. The simulation results have been experimentally validated through means of a DC/AC, five-level, single-phase converter prototype with an appropriate test bench.

This paper presents adaptable methods for achieving fast collision detection using the GPU and Nvidia CUDA together with Octrees. Earlier related work have focused on serial methods, while this paper presents a parallel solution which shows that there is a great increase in time if the number of operations is large. This article describes a technique for distinguishing and quantifying medium access control (MAC) and physical layer (PHY) interference in error-prone 802.11 networks. This technique, is fully distributed, allowing each station to estimate interference individually. The estimator is based on an extended Kalman filter coupled to a mechanism for revealing abrupt changes in state. In this work we modelize, with an abstract mathematical model by computer simulation, the processes that have made to appear in the world a strong duality between orient and occident, by combining changes in conditions of initialization, natural system and the opposition gregarious/individualism of the social behaviors. Finally we present a statistical study of the influence of the repression adaptability, resignation and recycling on the ecological destruction and social evolution. This model can help us to analyze if the current capitalist globalization can be stopped, changed or regulated, and if it is possible to overcome it towards a Free Scientific Society.
