Anti-swing control of a hydraulic loader crane with a hanging load

Abstract In this paper, anti-swing control for a hydraulic loader crane is presented. The difference between hydraulic and electric cranes are discussed to show the challenges associated with hydraulic actuation. The hanging load dynamics and relevant kinematics of the crane are derived to create the 2-DOF anti-swing controller. The anti-swing controller is added to the electro-hydraulic motion controller via feedforward. A dynamic simulation model of the crane is made, and the control system is evaluated in simulations with a path controller in actuator space. A robust two-feedback loops position control algorithm for compliant low-cost series elastic actuators

Elastic joints are considered to outperform rigid joints in terms of peak dynamics, collision tolerance, robustness, and energy efficiency. Therefore, intrinsically elastic joints have become progressively prominent over the last years for a variety of robotic applications. This research paper presents the first part of a comparative analysis of a novel self-contained electro-hydraulic cylinder with passive load-holding capability against a state of the art, valve-controlled actuation system that is typically used in load-carrying applications. The study is carried out on a single-boom crane with focus on the control design and motion performance analysis. Abstract This paper represents the second part of the work described in the paper with the title “Decision-making tool for moving from 3-axes to 5-axes CNC machine-tool”. The problem of using either 3 axes CNC machine-tools or 5 axes CNC machine tools was presented in the first part, together with a fuzzy logic based decision support tool. This time, an AHP approach is used in order to evaluate the decision of moving to a manufacturing process based upon 5 axes machine tools. Three variants were taken into consideration and analysed. The consistency of the proposed approach was evaluated and a sensitivity analysis was also introduced.

This paper is concerned with the problems of finite-time stability FTS and finite-time stabilisation for a class of nonlinear systems with time-varying delay, which can be represented by Takagi–Sugeno fuzzy system. Some new delay-dependent FTS conditions are provided and applied to the design problem of finite-time fuzzy controllers. Interdisciplinary design methodology for systems of mechatronic systems focus on highly dynamic environmental applications

This paper discusses a series of research challenges in the design of systems of mechatronic systems. A focus is given to environmental mechatronic applications within the chain “Renewable energy production — Smart grids — Electric vehicles”. For the considered mechatronic systems, the main design targets are formulated, the relations to state and parameter estimation, disturbance observation and rejection as well as control algorithms are highlighted. Finally, the study introduces an interdisciplinary design approach based on the intersectoral transfer of knowledge and collaborative experimental activities.

Method for 3D fibre reconstruction on a microrobotic platform

Automated handling of a natural fibrous object requires a method for acquiring the three-dimensional geometry of the object, because its dimensions cannot be known beforehand. This paper presents a method for calculating the three-dimensional reconstruction of a paper fibre on a microrobotic platform that contains two microscope cameras. The method is based on detecting curvature changes in the fibre centreline, and using them as the corresponding points between the different views of the images. Fault detection for nonlinear networked systems based on quantization and dropout compensation: An interval type-2 fuzzy-model method

Abstract This paper investigates the problem of filter-based fault detection for a class of nonlinear networked systems subject to parameter uncertainties in the framework of the interval type-2 (IT2) T–S fuzzy model-based approach. The Bernoulli random distribution process and logarithm quantizer are used to describe the measurement loss and signals quantization, respectively. In the framework of the IT2 T–S fuzzy model, the parameter uncertainty is handled by the membership functions with lower and upper bounds.
