Cost Analysis of FMS Throughput

1988

Abstract The need for an effective cost planning and control system is stressed in today highly competitive manufacturing environment. The conventional approaches of machining economics to cost analysis are no more able to cope with the new structure of the production costs in the highly automated - highly integrated manufacturing systems. Suitable cost analysis procedures should provide a strong integration between process planning data and overall system performances. The here proposed procedure for the estimate of the unit manufacturing cost in FMSs achieves this integration by using performance evaluation techniques like discrete event simulation or queueing network models.

Feasibility of Body-centric Systems by Using passive textile RFID tags

2012

Recent progresses in the design of wearable RFID-tag antennas stimulate the idea of passive body-centric systems, wherein the required power to drive the wearable tags is directly scavenged from the interrogation signal emitted by the reader unit. While active body-centric links have been extensively investigated, the feasibility of passive systems is still questionable, due to the poor sensitivity of the tags and due to the modest reading distances. This paper describes a systematic measurement campaign involving low-profile wearable textile tags in the UHF RFID band. It was demonstrated that both on-body and off-body links are affordable, with a power budget fully compliant with the avail…

Industrial applications of wireless networks: a bridge crane distributed control system based on bluetooth

2005

This paper shows the possibility to use Bluetooth for wireless short range communication in an industrial environment. In this line a distributed control system based on Bluetooth has been proposed for a bridge crane system. Its configuration is mainly based on the use of distributed nodes connected by means of Bluetooth. Traditionally many types of devices have been delivered as mechanical devices and more or less all or the intelligence and control has been added. Nowadays there is a growing trend towards a higher level of built-in intelligence in the devices, constituting the intelligent nodes. This type of systems allows the implementation of highly flexible control systems capable of a…

This paper shows the possibility to use Bluetooth for wireless short range communication in an industrial environment. Traditionally many types of devices have been delivered as mechanical devices and more or less all or the intelligence and control has been added. Nowadays there is a growing trend towards a higher level of built-in intelligence in the devices, constituting the intelligent nodes. This type of systems allows the implementation of highly flexible control systems capable of adapting themselves to different situations. With the introduction of RF systems, another dimension is aggregated, the possibility to wirelessly connect to the devices. The technology makes it possible to e…

A New Device for the Control and the Connection to the Grid of Combined RES-based Generators and Electric Storage Systems

2013

In this paper a new device for the control and the connection to the supply utility grid of combined RES-based generators and electric storage systems is presented. The device is a bidirectional converter that can be controlled so as to facilitate the interface between the low voltage grid and photovoltaic or wind generators combined with batteries, contemporary addressing the requirements of the reference technical standards for users connection and providing different ancillary services. In the paper the functioning of the device and its circuit diagram are described, the single parts are shown and the potentiality of its control system are commented. © 2013 IEEE.

E-negotiator based on buyer's surfing pattern

2017

Everyone likes to get the best price, but best price cannot be provided to everyone. This paper proposes an algorithm to provide the best price to the most prospective buyer. E-Negotiation will be based on buyer's activity pattern and surfing behavior. Unlike existing e-negotiation models proposed for B2C, B2B and C2C Ecommerce applications, where the intervention of buyer is present, this paper proposes a system to e-negotiate by just observing buyer's surfing pattern, without depending on his input. Surfing patterns such as sites visited and products surfed will tell the buyer's intention on purchasing the product. The amount of discount for negotiation is generated using a Fuzzy Inferenc…

A distributed control system for citric fruits conservation and maturation based on CAN and Internet networks

2007

In citric fruits conservation and maturation systems it is very important to have precise information about parameters that indicate the citric fruit state. This information allows computing the appropriate control actions in order to achieve an optimum controlled citric fruit conservation and maturation. Last technological advances must be also used in this agriculture field to forget the rudimentary control systems that are being used at the present time. This paper describes a new distributed control system devoted to control citric fruits cold chambers that applies the last computer and electronics techniques. It is structured over different communication networks, making possible a rem…

Cyber Security for Wireless Semantic (SCADA/DCS) Systems

2016

International audience; Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition and Distributed Control Systems named (SCADA/DCS) have played a key role in the design of modern power smart applications, particularly in the automatic management of real time energetic platforms. In this work, we present a semantic cyber security vulnerabilities add to classic one, with the use of semantic embedded application in smart devices in semantic wireless (SCADA/DCS) systems, focusing on the semantic attacks. In this work, we present a new security semantic wireless protocol as a secure communication support for these modern semantic wireless systems named (ZIGBEE/SOAP/SECURITY), obtained by the combination between …

Diagnosis of mechanical unbalance for double cage induction motor load in time-varying conditions based on motor vibration signature analysis

2013

This paper investigates the detectability of mechanical unbalance in double cage induction motor load using motor vibration signature analysis technique. Rotor imbalances induce specific harmonic components in electrical, electromagnetical, and mechanical quantities. Harmonic components characteristic of this category of rotor faults, issued from vibration signals analysis, are closely related to rotating speed of the rotor, which complicates its detection under non-stationary operating conditions of the motor. Firstly, experimental results were performed first under healthy and mechanical load unbalance cases, for different load levels under steady-state operating conditions to evaluate th…
