COVID-SCORE Spain: public perceptions of key government COVID-19 control measures
2021
Abstract Background Spain was initially one of the countries most affected by the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. In June 2020, the COVID-SCORE-10 study reported that the Spanish public’s perception of their government’s response to the pandemic was low. This study examines these perceptions in greater detail. Methods We employed an ordered logistic regression analysis using COVID-SCORE-10 data to examine the Spanish public’s perception of 10 key aspects of their government’s COVID-19 control measures. These included support for daily needs, mental and general health services, communication, information and coordination, which were examined by gender, age, education level, hav…
Collision Avoidance with Potential Fields Based on Parallel Processing of 3D-Point Cloud Data on the GPU
2014
In this paper we present an experimental study on real-time collision avoidance with potential fields that are based on 3D point cloud data and processed on the Graphics Processing Unit (GPU). The virtual forces from the potential fields serve two purposes. First, they are used for changing the reference trajectory. Second they are projected to and applied on torque control level for generating according nullspace behavior together with a Cartesian impedance main control loop. The GPU algorithm creates a map representation that is quickly accessible. In addition, outliers and the robot structure are efficiently removed from the data, and the resolution of the representation can be easily ad…
The parental bond, resistance to peer influence and risky driving in adolescence
2014
The present study examined the relations between gender, the parental bond, resistance to peer influence, and risky driving. In particular, the mediating role of resistance to peer pressure in the relationship between parental bond and risky driving was examined. The moderating role of gender on these associations was also investigated. The sample comprised 322 adolescents (136 males and 186 females), aged from 16 to 20 years, who were living in northern Italy. Path analysis results showed that the maternal bond only indirectly influenced adolescents’ risky driving, via resistance to peer influence. On the contrary, the paternal bond was neither directly nor indirectly associated with risky…
A CNN Adaptive Model to Estimate PM10 Monitoring
2006
In this work we introduce a model for studying the distribution and control of atmospheric pollution from PM10. The model is based on the use of a cellular neural network (CNN) and more precisely on the integration of the mass-balance equation; at the same time it simulates the scenario regarding a planar grid describing the whole studied area (the city of Palermo) by means of a CNN and a set of Bayesian networks. The CNN allows us to define a grid system whose dynamic evolution is a redefinition of the diffusion equation that considers contributions coming from near cells for each element of the grid. Dynamics of each cell is influenced by meteorological effects and by parameters related t…
USING THE ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (EMS) TO CONTROL THE IMPLEMENTATION AND EMERGENCE OF GREEN STRATEGIES.
2009
To respond to the ecological challenges of the new century and their Environmental and Social Responsability, more and more companies adopt the Environmental Management System (EMS). The objective of this thesis is to analyze how this management system is used in French companies for implement their ''intended" green strategies and to explore the new green strategies. To answer this problematic, we mobilized two theoretical frameworks during this research: the New Institutionalism in Organizational Analysis (DiMaggio and Powell, 1983, 1991 and Hasselbladh Kallinikos, 2000) and Levers of control model (Simons, 1995). Then, our research methodology is composed of three phases succeeding: an e…

Enabling Energy Savings in Offshore Mechatronic Systems by using Self-Contained Cylinders
2019
This paper proposes a novel actuation system for an offshore drilling application. It consists of three self-contained electro-hydraulic cylinders that can share and store regenerated energy. The energy saving potential of the proposed solution is analyzed through a multibody system simulation. The self-contained system demonstrates superior energy efficiency compared to the benchmark system representing the state-of-the-art approach used today (i.e., valve-controlled cylinders by means of pressure-compensated directional control valves and counter-balance valves, supplied by a centralized hydraulic power unit). Due to the power on demand capability, the cancellation of the throttling losse…
Pastores en los libros de emblemas españoles
2009
International audience; In Spanish emblem books the figure of the badly shepherd is used for criticizing the excessive tax system and the abandonment of the power on the part of the king. Two types of representations use: rustic shepherd and mythological shepherd. These are applied both to the power of the state and to the individual area.; En los libros de emblemas se utiliza la figura del mal pastor para criticar la fiscalidad excesiva y la dejación del poder por parte del rey. Dos tipos de representaciones se emplean : pastor rústico y pastor mitológico. Estas se aplican tanto al poder del estado como al ámbito individual.
