An IPMSM torque/weight and torque/moment of inertia ratio optimization

2014

In this paper, a torque/weight and torque/moment of inertia ratio optimization procedure for interior permanent magnet syncronous motors (IPMSMs) is presented. More in detail, a performance comparison between several IPMSM rotor structures has been carried out in order to determine the optimum geometry that can maximize the torque/weight and torque/moment of inertia ratios. A commercial motor, with known electrical and mechanical characteristics, has been taken as reference. Its rotor structure has been modified several times, obtaining different rotor geometries and, therefore, many IPMSM models with different electrical and mechanical characteristics. The finite element method (FEM) analy…

Western Australian students' alcohol consumption and expenditure intentions for Schoolies.

2016

In Australia, the immediate post-school period (known as ‘Schoolies’) is associated with heavy drinking and high levels of alcohol-related harm. This study investigated students’ intended alcohol consumption during Schoolies to inform interventions to reduce alcohol-related harm among this group. An online survey was administered to students in their senior year of schooling. Included items related to intended daily alcohol consumption during Schoolies, amount of money intended to be spent on alcohol over the Schoolies period, and past drinking behaviour. On average, participants (n=187) anticipated that they would consume eight standard drinks per day, which is substantially higher than t…

Biodegradable Metal-Organic Framework-Based Microrobots (MOFBOTs).

2020

Microrobots and metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) have been identified as promising carriers for drug delivery applications. While clinical applications of microrobots are limited by their low drug loading efficiencies and the poor degradability of the materials used for their fabrication, MOFs lack motility and targeted drug delivery capabilities. The combination of these two fields marks the beginning of a new era; MOF‐based small‐scale robots (MOFBOTs) for biomedical applications. Yet, biodegradability is a major hurdle in the field of micro‐ and nanoswimmers including small‐scale robots. Here, a highly integrated MOFBOT that is able to realize magnetic locomotion, drug delivery, and selec…

Ética y prevención del consumo de drogas

2010

Monotherapy with indacaterol once daily reduces the rate of exacerbations in patients with moderate-to-severe COPD: Post-hoc pooled analysis of 6 mon…

2014

Summary Background In patients with COPD, exacerbations are associated with poor quality of life and may shorten survival. Prevention of exacerbations is, therefore, a key objective in COPD management. Indacaterol, a once-daily ultra-long-acting β 2 -agonist, has been shown to reduce exacerbations in various studies. This pooled analysis evaluated the effect of indacaterol on exacerbations versus placebo. Methods Six-month data were pooled from three randomized, double-blind, and placebo-controlled studies: indacaterol 300 μg versus placebo (1 year); indacaterol 150 μg and 300 μg versus placebo (6 months); and indacaterol 150 μg versus placebo (6 months). All treatments were administered on…

The Commented Walk Method as a Way of Highlighting Precise Daily Mobility Difficulties – A Case Study Focusing on Cognitive or Mental Diseases

2016

Abstract The French Act of 11 February 2005 on equal rights and opportunities, participation and citizenship of people with disabilities highlights the need “for people with disabilities or reduced mobility” to have access to the complete mobility chain of the transport system. This law was initially planned to apply from 2015. Many efforts have been made to improve life for those with physical, visual and, to a lesser extent, hearing impairments. But there is a lot of room for improvement in situations regarding psychological, cognitive and mental impairment. This is largely due to a lack of knowledge on the difficulties experienced by the above when they travel. The national quantitative …
