Preliminary Estimation of Deoxynivalenol Excretion through a 24 h Pilot Study

2015

A duplicate diet study was designed to explore the occurrence of 15 Fusarium mycotoxins in the 24 h-diet consumed by one volunteer as well as the levels of mycotoxins in his 24 h-collected urine. The employed methodology involved solvent extraction at high ionic strength followed by dispersive solid phase extraction and gas chromatography determination coupled to mass spectrometry in tandem. Satisfactory results in method performance were achieved. The method"s accuracy was in a range of 68%108%, with intra-day relative standard deviation and inter-day relative standard deviation lower than 12% and 15%, respectively. The limits of quantitation ranged from 0.1 to 8 μg/Kg. The matrix effect w…

Surgical treatment for renal cell carcinoma

2010

Renal cell carcinoma is chemoresistent and radio-therapy so that surgical tumour excision of the tumor is the only potentially curative option, either as radical nephrectomy or as nephron sparing surgery. As a result of continuously improving radiological imaging modalities, renal tumours are nowadays detected incidentally at an asymptomatic stage in up to 75 %. The ten-year cancer-specific survival for organ-confined disease (T1, T2) after R0-excision is > 90 %. Moreover, locally extending renal tumours (T3) can be treated successfully with five-year survival rates of > 65 %. In case of tumours in a single kidney or synchronous bilateral tumours, good functional and oncological long-term r…

Clinical Recommendation Radical Trachelectomy for Fertility Preservation in Patients With Early-Stage Cervical Cancer

2012

Radical trachelectomy (RT) is a fertility-sparing procedure with the aim to provide adequate oncological safety to patients with cervical cancer while preserving their fertility. In the current review, indications, development of the procedure, technical aspects, preoperative and postoperative management, and oncological, fertility, and obstetric outcomes are discussed and studied with respect to whether the procedure is performed abdominally or vaginally. Complications of RT, staging, and more conservative alternatives to RT are discussed as well. A systematic MEDLINE search was performed, which yielded 218 articles, of which 75 were selected for further analysis based on the number of pat…

Pantellerian ware: a comprehensive archaeometric review.

2007

Pantellerian ware is a Late Roman cooking ware whose production centre was established on the island of Pantelleria by the pioneering research of Fulford and Peacock almost 20 years ago (Peacock 1982; Fulford and Peacock 1984). Archaeological and archaeometric studies carried out by the authors of the present contribution during the past four years have aimed to fully characterize this ceramic class. Recurrent ceramic forms, their distribution over time and space, their petrographic characteristics and their chemical identity, as well as possible raw materials and their technological properties, were considered. The present paper is a comprehensive review of this archaeometric work and aims…

Comparison of sensory visual properties of food products in real and virtual conditions

2018

International audience; As Virtual Reality usages expand, as professional tools in one hand and as gaming devices in another hand, the use of these technologies for consumer science and sensory science is more and more interesting to be investigated. Before using Virtual Reality to evaluate new products, it seems necessary to check the similarities and differences of the visual attributes of products in real and in virtual. All the experiments were conducted with Unity software and HTC Vive Helmet. First, we designed virtual sensory booths, similar to the booths of AgroParisTech sensory Lab. Then, we choose a set of real products (cookies from the market) and digitalize them. At last, virtu…

The distribution of sodium within cooked food and sodium interactions with the matrix depends on both food matrices and salting practices

2021

The quantitative maps results show that the sodium distribution is more heterogeneous in the carrot salted after cooking than in the carrot salted during cooking  The salt diffusion during 5 hours after the 20 minutes of cooking for cooked carrot either salted during cooking or salted after cooking show an homogenization of the sodium

High performance of intravoxel incoherent motion diffusion MRI in detecting viral hepatitis-b induced liver fibrosis.

2019

Background: Recently a small cohort study demonstrated that intravoxel incoherent motion (IVIM) diffusion MRI can detect early stage liver fibrosis. Using modified IVIM data acquisition parameters, the current study aims to confirm this finding. Methods: Twenty-six healthy volunteers, three patients of chronic viral hepatitis-b but without fibrosis and one mild liver steatosis subject, and 12 viral hepatitis-b patients with fibrosis (stage 1–2=7, stage 3–4=5) were included in this study. With a 1.5-T MR scanner and respiration-gating, IVIM diffusion imaging was acquired using a single-shot echo-planar sequence with a b -value series of 2, 0, 1, 15, 20, 30, 45, 50, 60, 80, 100, 200, 300, 600…
