Effect of surface treatments on the bond strength of CAD/CAM fiberglass posts

Background There is no ideal protocol for the surface treatment of fiber posts, especially when using a computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) experimental fiberglass block. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the bond strength of a CAD/CAM customized glass fiber post and core after applying different surface treatment techniques. Material and methods Forty premolars were prepared to receive a customized CAD/CAM glass-fiber post and core obtained from an experimental block of glass fiber and epoxy resin. Even so, EMC problems can appear afterward, especially when the designed system is interconnected with external devices. Mechanical behavior of a sandwich with corrugated GRP core: numerical modeling and experimental validation

In this work the mechanical behaviour of a core reinforced composite sandwich structure is studied. The sandwich employs a Glass Reinforced Polymer (GRP) orthotropic material for both the two external skins and the inner core web. In particular, the core is designed in order to cooperate with the GRP skins in membrane and flexural properties by means of the addition of a corrugated laminate into the foam core. Hole-Transporting Materials for Perovskite Solar Cells Employing an Anthradithiophene Core

A decade after the report of the first efficient perovskite-based solar cell, development of novel hole-transporting materials (HTMs) is still one of the main topics in this research field. Two of the main advance vectors of this topic lie in obtaining materials with enhanced hole-extracting capability and in easing their synthetic cost. Aluminum-lithium clusters: First-principles simulation of geometries and electronic properties

The geometries and electronic properties of small lithium-rich ${\mathrm{Al}}_{N}{\mathrm{Li}}_{5N}$ $(N=1--6,10)$ clusters are studied using first-principles simulations. Aluminum ions form a compact inner core configuration in the clusters that changes into a chainlike skeleton embedded in a lithium surrounding as the cluster size increases. This behavior restricts $s\ensuremath{-}p$ hybridization effects and causes separate s and p bands in the electronic energy spectrum. A significant charge transfer from Li ions and nearby Al ions strengthens ionic Al-Li bonds, while Al-Al bonds gain a more covalent nature. Effects of the cycling workload on core and local skin temperatures

[EN] Purpose: The aim of the study was to determine the influence of cycling workload on the variation of core and skin temperature of the different body regions, and the relationship between both temperature variables. Method: Fourteen cyclists performed two 45-min cycling tests at 35% and 50% of peak power output on different days. The cadence was constant in both tests (90 rpm). Core temperature was measured continuously throughout the test and local skin temperature was recorded before, immediately after and 10 min after finishing the cycling test. Production of zero energy radioactive beams through extraction across superfluid helium surface

2003

A radioactive Ra-223 source was immersed in superfluid helium at 1.2-1.7 K. Electric fields transported recoiled Rn-219 ions in the form of snowballs to the surface and further extracted them across the surface. The ions were focussed onto an aluminium foil and alpha particle spectra were taken with a surface barrier spectrometer. This enabled us to determine the efficiency for each process unambiguously. The pulsed second sound wave proved effective in enhancing the extraction of positive ions from the surface. The effect of microwave power on the Ar9+ and Ar13+ optical emission intensities and ion beam currents in ECRIS

The production of Ar9+ and Ar13+ ions in an ECRIS plasma and the efficiency of the ion beam extraction and transport of the resulting Ar9+ and Ar13+ ion beams have been studied with the JYFL 14 GHz ECRIS by using optical emission spectroscopy and measurement of the m/q analyzed beam currents. The relative changes in both the optical emission and the ion beam current in CW mode as function of microwave power and in amplitude modulation (AM) operation mode are reported. The results indicate a discrepancy between the parametric dependence of high charge state ion densities in the core plasma and their extracted beam currents.
