The Effects of Short-Term Personal Goals on Subjective Well-Being
2015
Several studies demonstrated that subjective well-being is associated with goal value and perceived progress but their validity is affected by methodological biases. Moreover, a few have analysed the influence of short-term goals. We aimed to analyse how the levels of and changes in short-term goals progress and value influence subsequent levels of and changes in subjective well-being. This study adopted a three-wave longitudinal design with one-month intervals. Four hundred nine participants (186 males; age 19–71) reported their subjective well-being and their two most important goals and rated each over time in terms of value and progress. A latent difference score model revealed that lev…

Completing the logarithmic scoring rule for assessing probability distributions
2012
We propose and motivate an expanded version of the logarithmic score for forecasting distributions, termed the Total Log score. It incorporates the usual logarithmic score, which is recognised as incomplete and has been mistakenly associated with the likelihood principle. The expectation of the Total Log score equals the Negentropy plus the Negextropy of the distribution. We examine both discrete and continuous forms of the scoring rule, and we discuss issues of scaling for scoring assessments. The analysis suggests the dual tracking of the quadratic score along with the usual log score when assessing the qualities of probability distributions. An application to the sequential scoring of f…

UN INTERVENTO INTEGRATO TRA TERAPIA FARMACOLOGICA E NON FARMACOLOGICA IN UN CASO DI COREA DI HUNTINGTON: PRIMI RISULTATI
2016
Characterisation of patients with familial chylomicronaemia syndrome (FCS) and multifactorial chylomicronaemia syndrome (MCS): Establishment of an FC…
2018
Data presented in this article are supplementary material to our article entitled "Identification and diagnosis of patients with familial chylomicronaemia syndrome (FCS): expert panel recom mendations and proposal of an "FCS Score" (Moulin et al., 2018, in press). The data describe the genotypes of patients with familial chylomicronaemia syndrome (FCS) and multifactorial chylomicro naemia syndrome (MCS), from the validation and replication cohorts.
Favorable outcome in open globe injuries with low OTS score
2014
Purpose:.Open globe eye injuries can have profound social and economic consequences. Here, we describe two cases of war and outdoor activity open globe eye injury where, despite a low OTS score,.current microsurgical technology allowed for a favorable outcome.Case report 1: A 33-year-old Libyan soldier had been treated for an open-globe grenade blast trauma to his left eye, which showed light perception and OTS score 2..He had undergone a lensectomy and PPV with silicone oil tamponade. Surgical treatment included scleral buckling,.cornea trephination, tem-porary Eckardt keratoprosthesis, PPV revision, intraocular lens (IOL) implantation, and corneal grafting. Six months later, his VA was im…
BONE MINERAL DENSITY, FRAGILITY FRACTURES AND CLINICAL RISK FACTORS
2018
Osteoporosis affects the skeletal system and is characterized by a reduction in bone strength that predisposes one to an increased risk of fractures. In Italy, about 3.5 million women and 1 million men suffers from osteoporosis. These numbers are set to increase in the coming twenty years because the percentage of the Italian population over 65 will increase by 25%. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the general characteristics of a population of patients suffering from osteoporosis and the relation with comorbidity. A single site, open-label, investigator-initiated, retrospective trial was conducted at the Bone Metabolic Disease Clinic, Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitat…
