Mean-field correlations in the core of rich galaxy clusters

1991

We develop a theory for the contribution to the clustering correlation function from gravitational interactions of neighboring pairs of galaxies in clusters. This is based on the «Hypernetted Chain Equation», a self-consistent integral equation relating the correlation function to the interaction potential.

Comparing estimators of the galaxy correlation function

1999

We present a systematic comparison of some usual estimators of the 2--point correlation function, some of them currently used in Cosmology, others extensively employed in the field of the statistical analysis of point processes. At small scales, it is known that the correlation function follows reasonably well a power--law expression $\xi(r) \propto r^{-\gamma}$. The accurate determination of the exponent $\gamma$ (the order of the pole) depends on the estimator used for $\xi(r)$; on the other hand, its behavior at large scale gives information on a possible trend to homogeneity. We study the concept, the possible bias, the dependence on random samples and the errors of each estimator. Erro…

Quantum Monte Carlo study of the alternating extended Peierls–Hubbard model applied to the trans-polyacetylene

2001

Abstract The one-dimensional alternating Peierls–Hubbard model is especially interesting as nontrivial model for conjugated polymer chains, such as polyacetylene. We study this model for chains of 64 sites using the determinantal method based on Hubbard–Stratonovich transformation. We obtain the first electronic energies and their mean fluctuations at half-filling as a function of the on-site electron–electron interaction (both short and long range U, V coupling are considered). We also study the effect of the electron–electron interaction on the dimerization by investigating some of the important correlation functions, such as spin–spin correlation, on-site charge and the specific heat. Th…

Numerical simulation of Kerr nonlinear systems : analyzing non-classical dynamics

2019

Abstract We simulate coherent driven free dissipative Kerr nonlinear system numerically using Euler’s method by solving Heisenberg equation of motion and time evolving block decimation (TEBD) algorithm, and demonstrate how the numerical results are analogous to classical bistability. The comparison with analytics show that the TEBD numerics follow the quantum mechanical exact solution obtained by mapping the equation of motion of the density matrix of the system to a Fokker-Plank equation . Comparing between two different numerical techniques, we see that the semi-classical Euler’s method gives the dynamics of the system field of one among two coherent branches, whereas TEBD numerics genera…

Electron dynamical response in InP semiconductors driven by fluctuating electric fields

2015

Abstract The complexity of electron dynamics in low-doped n-type InP crystals operating under fluctuating electric fields is deeply explored and discussed. In this study, we employ a multi-particle Monte Carlo approach to simulate the non-linear transport of electrons inside the semiconductor bulk. All possible scattering events of hot electrons in the medium, the main details of the band structure, as well as the heating effects, are taken into account. The results presented in this study derive from numerical simulations of the electron dynamical response to the application of a sub-Thz electric field, fluctuating for the superimposition of an external source of Gaussian correlated noise.…

Harmonic decomposition of two particle angular correlations in Pb–Pb collisions at sNN=2.76 TeV

2012

Angular correlations between unidentified charged trigger (t) and associated (a) particles are measured by the ALICE experiment in Pb-Pb collisions at root s(NN) = 2.76 TeV for transverse momenta 0.25 p(T)(a). The shapes of the pair correlation distributions are studied in a variety of collision centrality classes between 0 and 50% of the total hadronic cross section for particles in the pseudorapidity interval |eta| 0.8, and are referred to as "long-range correlations". Fourier components V-n Delta equivalent to are extracted from the long-range azimuthal correlation functions. If particle pairs are correlated to one another through their individual correlation to a common symmetry plane, …

A CRITICAL VIEW ON THE PERTURBATIVE RG METHOD

2012

The perturbative renormalization group (RG) treatment of the Ginzburg–Landau model is reconsidered based on the Feynman diagram technique. We derive RG flow equations, exactly calculating all vertices appearing in the perturbative RG transformation of the φ4 model up to the ε3 order of the ε-expansion. The Fourier-transformed two-point correlation function G(k) has been considered. Although the ε-expansion of X(k) = 1/G(k) is well defined on the critical surface, we have revealed an inconsistency with the exact rescaling of X(k), represented as an expansion in powers of k at k →0. This new result can serve as a basis to challenge the correctness of the ε-expansion-based perturbative RG met…

Multiparticle correlations in the Schwinger mechanism

2009

We discuss the Schwinger mechanism in scalar QED and derive the multiplicity distribution of particles created under an external electric field using the LSZ reduction formula. Assuming that the electric field is spatially homogeneous, we find that the particles of different momenta are produced independently, and that the multiplicity distribution in one mode follows a Bose-Einstein distribution. We confirm the consistency of our results with an intuitive derivation by means of the Bogoliubov transformation on creation and annihilation operators. Finally we revisit a known solvable example of time-dependent electric fields to present exact and explicit expressions for demonstration.

Coulomb corrections to the three-body correlation function in high-energy heavy ion reactions

1998

Starting from an asymptotically correct three-body Coulomb wave-function, we determine the effect of Coulomb final state interaction on the three-particle Bose-Einstein correlation function of similarly charged particles. We numerically estimate that the Riverside approximation is not precise enough to determine the three-body Coulomb correction factor in the correlation function, if the characteristic HBT radius parameter is 5 - 10 fm, which is the range of interest in high-energy heavy ion physics.

Effect of three-body cluster on the healing properties of the Jastrow Correlation function

1973

A variational equation for the Jastrow Correlation function is derived from the energy functional expanded up to three-body cluster terms. The asymptotic behaviour of this nonlinear equation is studied. The solutions show a healing at least of the type cos(tαr)/r2. The influence of higher cluster contributions is studied. Finally, it is discussed, how one can reduce the many-body cluster contributions to healing conditions to be used in the two-body cluster treatment.
