We report associations between brain event-related potentials (ERPs) measured from newborns with and without familial risk for dyslexia and these same children's later language and verbal memory skills at 2.5, 3.5, and 5 years of age. ERPs to synthetic consonant-vowel syllables (/ba/, /da/, /ga/; presented equiprobably with 3,910-7,285 msec interstimulus intervals) were recorded from 26 newborns at risk for familial dyslexia and 23 control infants participating in the Jyvaskyla Longitudinal Study of Dyslexia. Correlation between fecal incontinence and quality of life after low anterior resection for rectal cancer

SUMMARY Aim: The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation between fecal incontinence and quality of life after low anterior resection and long-term follow-up. Methods: For 72 patients with coloanal or low colorectal anastomosis, the quality of life was determined by the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) questionnaires C-30 and CR-38. PURPOSE: To assess the value of hydro-MRI in the assessment of the activity of Crohn's disease. MATERIALS AND METHODS: After an oral bowel opacification using 1000 ml of a 2.5% mannitol solution, axial and coronal breath-hold sequences (T2W HASTE +/- FS, contrast-enhanced T1W FLASH FS) were acquired in 63 patients with Crohn's disease at 1.0 T. The enhancement of the bowel wall was correlated with other MRI findings, with the Crohn's disease activity index (CDAI), and the C-reactive protein (CRP). Hepatic Sinusoidal Dilatation: A Review of Causes With Imaging-Pathologic Correlation.

Hepatic sinusoids are vascular conduits connecting the portal triad with the central vein. Multiple conditions can lead to sinusoidal dilatation and congestion with resultant stasis of blood within the lumen. The altered hemodynamics associated with hepatic sinusoidal dilatation generally result in heterogeneous enhancement of the hepatic parenchyma on contrast-enhanced computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging, a pattern often described as “mosaic” enhancement. In this article, we review the causes of hepatic sinusoidal dilatation and the imaging manifestations on contrast-enhanced computed tomography and magnetic resonance.

Short and long term morbidity in late preterm neonates (LP) and their correlation to maternal risk factors are relevant as shown in multiple studies in North America and European countries. Epidemiological studies showed an increase in LP birth over time. Corresponding data for Germany have not yet been published. Our goal was to evaluate the epidemiology of LP over a 7 year period and the correlation to potential maternal risk factors in Hessen, Germany.
