Dye-Labeled Poly(organosiloxane) Microgels with Core−Shell Architecture

1999

Poly(organosiloxane) microgels are highly cross-linked rather monodisperse spherical particles of radius about 10 nm. Using a functionalized silane comonomer, i.e., (chlorobenzyl)trimethoxysilane, model particles suitable for studies in colloid physics are available:  photoreactive and fluorescent dyes can be covalently bound within the microgels to prepare tracers for diffusion studies using forced Rayleigh scattering (FRS) and fluorescence correlation spectroscopy (FCS). For the application as tracer particles, it is important not to influence the diffusion behavior by the coupled chromophores. Therefore, functionalized precursors with a core−shell architecture are used to minimize labeli…

Isometric endurance test of the cervical flexor muscles - Reliability and normative reference values.

2017

Abstract Objective To obtain reference values for the isometric endurance test (IET) of the cervical flexor muscles, investigate its reproducibility, and compare the results with the maximal isometric strength test (MIST) of the cervical flexor muscles. Design Cross-sectional non-comparative study with single group repeated measurements. Methods Altogether 219 healthy females aged 20–59 years volunteered to participate in the study. The IET was performed in the supine position and MIST seated. The reproducibility was evaluated by the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) and an analysis described by Bland and Altman. The relationship between the two measuring methods was evaluated by Pea…

Experimental investigation on the effectiveness of basalt-fibre strengthening systems for confining masonry elements

Basis set and correlation effects in the calculation of accurate gas phase dimerization energies of two M+2 to give M2+4 (M = S, Se)

2000

The dimerization energies of two M2+ to give M42+ (M = S, Se) were calcd. They depend strongly on the size of the basis set and the correlation method used (ranging from 217 to 522 kJ/mol, M = S) and, therefore, a systematic study of basis set and correlation effects was performed [MP2, MP3, MP4(SDQ), CCSD, CCSD(T)]. The introduction of a second set of polarizing d-functions caused a significant redn. of the dimerization energies, but neither of the above limits is reached by the MPn (n = 2, 3, 4) theory, even with the largest basis sets [cc-pVQZ]. However, convergence was achieved by CCSD(T), compd. methods or hybrid HF/DFT calcns. employing flexible basis sets [e.g., CCSD(T)/cc-pV5Z, CBS-…

CCSD-CTOCD static dipole shielding polarizability for quantification of the chiral NMR effects in oxaziridine derivatives

2014

Chiral discrimination by nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy might be achieved through the pseudo-scalar derived from the dipole shielding polarizability tensor. Coupled Cluster Singles and Doubles-Quadratic Response (CCSD-QR) calculations inside the continuous translation of the origin of the current density formalism have been carried out to determine the effects of basis set, electron correlation, and gauge translation on the determination of this magnitude in oxaziridine derivatives. Inclusion of electronic correlation is needed for adequately describing the pseudo-scalar for the heavier nuclei, making CCSD a rigorous and affordable method to compute these high order propertie…

Classes of sum-of-cisoids processes and their statistics for the modeling and simulation of mobile fading channels

2013

Published version of an article in the journal: EURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking. Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1186/1687-1499-2013-125 Open access In this paper, we present a fundamental study on the stationarity and ergodicity of eight classes of sum-of-cisoids (SOC) processes for the modeling and simulation of frequency-nonselective mobile Rayleigh fading channels. The purpose of this study is to determine which classes of SOC models enable the design of channel simulators that accurately reproduce the channel’s statistical properties without demanding information on the time origin or the time-consuming computation of an ensemble ave…

An Ergodic Sum-of-Cisoids Simulator for Multiple Uncorrelated Rayleigh Fading Channels Under Generalized Scattering Conditions

2012

In this paper, we present a new method for the design of ergodic sum-of-sinusoids (SOS) simulators for multiple uncorrelated narrowband Rayleigh fading channels. The method, which is intended for a special class of SOS models known as sum-of-cisoids (SOC) models, enables the generation of an unlimited number of mutually uncorrelated Rayleigh fading waveforms with specified autocorrelation properties. This is in contrast to all known methods proposed for SOS simulators, which are restricted to the simulation of multiple uncorrelated Rayleigh fading channels characterized by autocorrelation functions (ACFs) derived under the isotropic scattering assumption. The excellent performance of this n…

A Wideband MIMO Channel Model Derived From the Geometric Elliptical Scattering Model

2006

In this paper, we present a reference model for a wideband multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channel based on the geometric elliptical scattering model. The model takes into account the exact relationship between the angle of departure (AOD) and the angle of arrival (AOA). Based on this relationship, the statistical properties of the reference model are studied. Analytical solutions are presented for the three- dimensional (3D) space-time cross-correlation function (CCF), the temporal autocorrelation function (ACF), the 2D space CCF, and finally the frequency correlation function (FCF). The correlation properties are studied and visualized under the assumption of isotropic as well as no…

The generalized method of equal areas for the design of sum-of-cisoids simulators for mobile Rayleigh fading channels with arbitrary Doppler spectra

2011

We present in this paper a generalized version of the method of equal areas (MEA) that is well suited for the design of sum-of-cisoids (SOC) simulators for narrowband mobile Rayleigh fading channels characterized by any type of Doppler power spectral densities (DPSDs). Unlike the original MEA, the generalized MEA (GMEA) can be applied to the simulation of fading channels with asymmetrical DPSDs. This is an important feature because the simulation of such channels is of great interest for the laboratory analysis of mobile communication systems under non-isotropic scattering conditions. We show that irrespective of the underlying DPSD, the GMEA results in a very good approximation to the auto…
