Inequivalent Quantizations of Gauge Theories
1999
It is known that the quantization of a system defined on a topologically non-trivial configuration space is ambiguous in that many inequivalent quantum systems are possible. This is the case for multiply connected spaces as well as for coset spaces. Recently, a new framework for these inequivalent quantizations approach has been proposed by McMullan and Tsutsui, which is based on a generalized Dirac approach. We employ this framework for the quantization of the Yang-Mills theory in the simplest fashion. The resulting inequivalent quantum sectors are labelled by quantized non-dynamical topological charges.
Galilean Superconformal Symmetries
2009
We consider the non-relativistic c -> \infty contraction limit of the (N=2k)- extended D=4 superconformal algebra su(2,2;N), introducing in this way the non-relativistic (N=2k)-extended Galilean superconformal algebra. Such a Galilean superconformal algebra has the same number of generators as su(2,2|2k). The usp(2k) algebra describes the non-relativistic internal symmetries, and the generators from the coset u(2k)/usp(2k) become central charges after contraction.

Maximal subgroups and formations
1989
Abstract We define, in each finite group G , some subgroups of Frattini-type in relation with a saturated formation and with a set of primes and study their properties, especially their influence in the structure of G .
The structure of symplectic groups associated with a quadratic extension of fields
2003
Given a quadratic extension L/K of fields and a regular alternating space (V, f) of finite dimension over L, we determine the isometry group of a K-subspace W of V which does not split into the orthogonal sum of two proper K-subspaces, W being neither an L-space nor a K-substructure.
Parametrizations of density matrices
2011
This article gives a brief overview of some recent progress in the characterization and parametrization of density matrices of finite dimensional systems. We discuss in some detail the Bloch-vector and Jarlskog parametrizations and mention briefly the coset parametrization. As applications of the Bloch parametrization we discuss the trace invariants for the case of time dependent Hamiltonians and in some detail the dynamics of three-level systems. Furthermore, the Bloch vector of two-qubit systems as well as the use of the polarization operator basis is indicated. As the main application of the Jarlskog parametrization we construct density matrices for composite systems. In addition, some r…
Addition of NMDA-receptor antagonist MK801 during oxygen/glucose deprivation moderately attenuates the upregulation of glucose uptake after subsequen…
2011
During stroke the blood–brain barrier (BBB) is damaged which can result in vasogenic brain edema and inflammation. The reduced blood supply leads to decreased delivery of oxygen and glucose to affected areas of the brain. Oxygen and glucose deprivation (OGD) can cause upregulation of glucose uptake of brain endothelial cells. In this letter, we investigated the influence of MK801, a non-competitive inhibitor of the NMDA-receptor, on the regulation of the glucose uptake and of the main glucose transporters glut1 and sglt1 in murine BBB cell line cerebEND during OGD. mRNA expression of glut1 was upregulated 68.7- fold after 6 h OGD, which was significantly reduced by 10 μM MK801 to 28.9-fold.…
