Investigation of the elastic and inelastic scattering of He-3 from Be-9 in the energy range 30-60 MeV

We have measured the differential cross-sections for the elastic as well as inelastic scattering populating the 2.43[Formula: see text]MeV [Formula: see text] excited state in [Formula: see text] using [Formula: see text] beams at energies of 30, 40 and 47[Formula: see text]MeV on a [Formula: see text] target. The experimental results for the elastic scattering were analyzed within the framework of the optical model using the Woods–Saxon and double-folding potentials. The theoretical calculations for the concerned excited states were performed using the coupled-channel method. The optimal deformation parameters for the excited states of [Formula: see text] nucleus were extracted.

Determination of helium number densities in high-frequency electrodeless plasma

Abstract The number densities of He first excited states 2 3 S 1 , 2 1 S 0 , 2 3 P 0,1,2 , and 2 1 P 0 were measured by absorption and self-absorption methods. The emission lines in the range 290–730 nm were used to determine the number densities of He metastable and resonant states of inductively coupled high-frequency electrodeless lamps filled with helium at pressure 0.1 Torr. The obtained number densities of helium metastable levels 2 3 S 1 and 2 1 S 0 are 2×10 12 and 3×10 11  cm −3 , respectively. For the 2 3 P 0,1,2 and 2 1 P 0 levels the determined number densities are ten times smaller than that of the metastable levels. Values of number densities from measurements using both method…

Observation of Modulational Instability induced by a dynamical Bragg grating in an optical fiber

We present a detailed experimental study on Bragg Modulational Instability in a highly birefringent fiber. The originality of our scheme is that the index modulation is obtained through cross phase modulation with a beating wave.

Observation of high-purity single photons hopping between optical cavities

2014

We experimentally demonstrate high-purity single photons hopping coherently between coupled optical cavities. The system shows high performance also as a controllable single-photon source, which emits single photons with a negative Wigner function.

Towards a spin-adapted coupled-cluster theory for high-spin open-shell states

2006

A spin-adapted coupled-cluster (SA-CC) scheme based on the additional consideration of spin constraints is proposed for the quantum chemical treatment of high-spin open-shell cases. Its computational feasibility is demonstrated via a pilot implementation within the singles and doubles approximation. Test calculations indicate that the suggested SA-CC scheme provides results of similar accuracy as the more traditional schemes without spin adaptation.

Resonant atom-field interaction in large-size coupled-cavity arrays

We consider an array of coupled cavities with staggered inter-cavity couplings, where each cavity mode interacts with an atom. In contrast to large-size arrays with uniform-hopping rates where the atomic dynamics is known to be frozen in the strong-hopping regime, we show that resonant atom-field dynamics with significant energy exchange can occur in the case of staggered hopping rates even in the thermodynamic limit. This effect arises from the joint emergence of an energy gap in the free photonic dispersion relation and a discrete frequency at the gap's center. A study of beauty baryons with extended local hidden gauge approach

Abstract In present work we investigate the interaction of B ‾ N , B ‾ Δ , B ‾ ⁎ N and B ‾ ⁎ Δ states, together with their coupled channels. Taking into account the heavy quark spin symmetry for pion exchange and the results of the Weinberg Tomozawa term in the extended local hidden gauge approach, we search for states dynamically generated from the interaction, and find two states with small width, which we associate to the Λ b ( 5912 ) and Λ b ( 5920 ) states. In addition to these two Λ b states, we find three more states with I = 0 and eight more states in I = 1 , some of which are degenerate in different spin J .

High-precision ab initio calculations of the spectrum of Lr$^+$

The planned measurement of optical resonances in singly-ionised lawrencium (Z = 103) requires accurate theoretical predictions to narrow the search window. We present high-precision, ab initio calculations of the electronic spectra of Lr$^+$ and its lighter homologue lutetium (Z = 71). We have employed the state-of-the-art relativistic Fock space coupled cluster approach and the AMBiT CI+MBPT code to calculate atomic energy levels, g-factors, and transition amplitudes and branching-ratios. Readout of the UFFO Slewing Mirror Telescope to detect UV/optical photons from Gamma-Ray Bursts

The Slewing Mirror Telescope (SMT) was proposed for rapid response to prompt UV/optical photons from Gamma-Ray Bursts (GRBs). The SMT is a key component of the Ultra-Fast Flash Observatory (UFFO)-pathfinder, which will be launched aboard the Lomonosov spacecraft at the end of 2013. The SMT utilizes a motorized mirror that slews rapidly forward to its target within a second after triggering by an X-ray coded mask camera, which makes unnecessary a reorientation of the entire spacecraft.
